This book kept me captivated from beginning to end. The story wasn't your typical historical romance and I liked that......it kept it interesting. I..Show More » recommend this book not only to anyone who enjoys romances but also people who like Native American stories.
I heard this narrator before and I really enjoy her reading. Many people complain when she whispers and I don't understand the complaint. She only whispers when the book says "she/he whispered". How can you fault the narrator for whispering when the author wrote that in the book?
Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and its worth a credit (or better yet if you find it on sale like I did snatch it up quick!)
The descriptions of the plot can't begin to tell the real story without spoiling the story, so disregard most everything you read in the publisher's d..Show More »ata. This is a delightful story with a fabulous pair of lovers, where the woman is delightful. There's humor and danger and plenty of loving and exciting action. It's the 2nd in the series, and though it can stand alone, I'd definitely start right at the beginning.
This is book 3 in JG's fantastic series The Crown Spies and, as usual, she delivers her winning formula for us Historical Romance lovers to suck up, r..Show More »evel in and enjoy in a storyline that includes adventure, fun, romance, sex, thrills, laughs, intrigue and of course, likeable H/H's who's endings are always tender, inevitable and predictable but it's the journey we all love to hear about and share in.
Nathan and Sara's story was filled with entertaining characters who are involved in a hilarious lol story that'll have people scowling and looking at you believing you've gone totally mad (but hey who cares). Nathan is handsome, arrogant, possessive, dominant, protective to loved ones and he growls and scowls at everybody especially when he captures Sara, his childhood bride, as he is finally ready to fulfil a bargain made years earlier and needs to both consummate and procreate to seal the deal. Sara, a delicate beauty who's naive, quirky, trusting, giving and loving but is also prone to screaming and crying...... and she's just the remedy Nathan doesn't realise he needs to break down the walls surrounding his heart.
Great secondary characters who help to make this one of the best in the series and I'm soooo looking forward to book 4 Castles which is Sir Colin's story - so please please Audible keep your listeners happy and add it soon.
Could easily be a stand alone listen but it does mention characters from previous books.
Worth a credit? It's definitely creditworthy, especially for the 12 and a half hours of listening pleasure it gives you, but it's an unbelievable bargain at under $10 - so save your credits for a more expensive, but maybe not a more worthy or enjoyable, listen.
Ugh…I usually love Julie Garwood, and while I hate to be negative, Castles, the 4th installment of the “Crown’s Spies” series, was a real disappoint. ..Show More » The story of Colin, and Princess Alesandra just did not measure up to the quality of storytelling that readers have been conditioned to expect.
In the first three books, Colin was a very appealing character, and I was looking forward to his story, but in Castles, he was selfish, bitter, angry, and basically unappealing. As per formula, he comes around in the end to “save the day”, but it was too little-too late for me.
I actually hated the narration. Heather Wilds’ attempt to change character voices and accents was almost too painful to finish the listen. Unfortunately, the enjoyment of an audible experience is largely dependent on the quality of the narration. Skip this one. You won’t miss much.
