IT WAS PURELY PHYSICAL BUT THEN IT BECAME PERSONAL
First of all I give 5 stars to whoever is responsible for the cover picture - get a load of that...... oh and those...... not to mention the...... (ri..Show More »ght girls).
Anyway enough drooling back to the contents, I'm afraid at the start I was a bit disappointed in the first half of this book for the following reasons 1) there seemed to be a lot of 'motion' and not enough emotion or storyline..... a little conversation then sex, play Xbox then hot sex, coffee then sex, oh look at that view then.... yup you got it sex - well you get the picture. Don't get me wrong I like these types of books but there just wasn't a strong enough story to go with the repetitive sex for a lot of the book. 2) I had a little trouble at the start liking or connecting with either Liz or Gavin much as, from book 1, each of them seemed selfish and 3) there was plenty of dissing Mick from book 1 and not enough explaining or recapping just why he didn't like Liz or giving what his understandable reason was.
Having said that, as the story progressed we see more of Liz and Gavin's character traits being peeled away and their vulnerabilities and histories were revealed and the final half just sucked me right in - there was drama, conflict, arguments, heartache, passion and it was sweet, romantic and had a couple of lovely ahhhhh moments - and yes followed by sex of course.
Worth a credit? Well of course I'm going to say YES after all who can resist a steamy escape into these passion filled listens.
I really enjoyed this story. I liked the characters, liked the plot, and I liked the setting. I like reading romances with sports. And this author a..Show More »ctually bothered to describe the sport. You know what I didn't like? It's the 3rd in a series, but the first 2 weren't available!
Playing to Win is the fourth book in Jaci Burton’s Play by Play series, Cole Riley hasn’t been able to find his place with a football teams. After bei..Show More »ng traded to his 3rd NFL Team, Cole needs to clean up his image. In comes Savannah Brooks, a Georgia Peach who’s an expert at making over an image. Cole doesn't think that there’s anything wrong with his image. If his image is tainted, it’s because of the media, not him. Savannah’s job is to convince Cole to learn how to be less self absorbed and become a team player if he wants to have a long career with the Traders. I really like this series. I felt like something was missing for me in this book. I could not connect with their relationship. I liked Cole and Savannah as individuals but wasn't completely sold on the chemistry and the attraction. What I want between the hero and heroines is hot, sizzling chemistry with a little angst thrown in. There was none of that. Cole and Savannah together was very blah. Cole wasn't happy about having Savannah underfoot, making over his image and I expected more conflict. I wanted passionate, heated arguments. There were arguments but they felt flat. Playing to Win was an ok read. Some parts were boring and I felt that we never found out why Cole closed himself off from people. I'm not sure if I want to give up or continue with the series yet.
Thrown by a Curve is the fifth book of Play-by-Play series by Jaci Burton. This book is like the others in the series which always ends with a delici..Show More »ous HEA. A romance with steamy scenes and likeable characters. This story continues with the Riley family and focuses on Alicia "Gavin's cousin" and Garrett "hot baseball player". Alicia Riley is a physical therapist who is assigned to hot shot ball player Garrett Scott's shoulder recovery. Garrett is the typical star athlete... arrogant, confident, and extreme sexiness. This story was a pretty straight forward romance. There wasn't very much drama or conflict. I loved the pace the relationship took to progress. It was a slow gradually build from friendship to something more. I could still feel the chemistry between Alicia and Garrett from the very beginning. In fact, there were lots of sexual innuendos and flirtatious banter between them. The sex is postponed while the author focuses a lot on building the romance & chemistry between Garrett and Alicia. I will rate the book 3 stars, simply because it was good, fast and a easy listen. However, it was missing the typical intensity found in the other previous 4 books in the series. Keep in mind, it wasn't a bad book just not my favorite. I definitely look forward to listening to book 6 soon.
One Sweet Ride is Gray and Evelyn's story and is the 6th book in the Play by Play series. I liked the story line, the chemistry between the characters..Show More » and the smexy scenes. YUM YUM! This is actually the first book in the series where the main characters aren't members of the Riley family. Gray Preston was a college roommate of Garrett Scott (Thrown By A Curve) and a race car driver. Gray is rich, due to his inheritance from his late grandfather, and his winnings as a driver/owner. Gray is content with his life as it is. He's got looks, money, and women available whenever he wants them. Best of all he's doing what he absolutely loves. Evelyn Hill is an aide to his father, a US Senator who is seeking the vice-presidential nomination. Evelyn is instructed to get Gray on board with his father's campaign in the hopes of swaying votes for his father. Evelyn Hill is living her dream. The strawberry blonde beauty is a go-getter, ambitious, career-oriented, and on the rise. Working hard for Senator Mitchell Preston for the upcoming national election is her number one goal, and getting him in the White House is her top priority. Career is everything for Evelyn. Her objective is to find the best way to integrate Gray into his father’s campaign, not her heart, and certainly not her bed. The only problem is that Gray wants nothing to do with his father and has to be coerced by his mother to agree to the arrangement. While I enjoyed this book, good story, likeable characters, lots of hot sex, there wasn't any real conflict. As time progresses and the sparks ignite between these two it became more impossible to keep their desires bottled up. They are explosive together. Evelyn was the perfect girl for him. She's smart, sassy and doesn't put up with any of his crap. Apparently exactly what Gray didn't know he desired until she walked into his life. He finally met his match with Evelyn. Seeing their love blossom was heartfelt. Plus, Gray is so darn tempting he made me want to lick the sweat right off him. The interactions between Evelyn and Gray were phenomenal and the sex was HOT HOT HOT! HOT! Fans of this series truly know what to expect from this book.... one swoon worthy alpha male, gorgeous characters, determined heroine, lots of passionate sex, a life altering moment, and an eventual HEA. Overall, it's hard not to love a Jaci Burton book! She is an amazing author who pulls you in with great story lines and sexy men! I loved all of the previous "Play by Play" books. This one wasn't my favorite, b/c now Jaci is writing about friends of the famous family. It was still a good romance book with some AMAZING HOT love scenes. If you are looking for a light read that will curl your toes, this book is for you.
I really wanted to like this book. These have always been a must buy for me but this one should have just been a series catchup novella. It seems eve..Show More »ry couple of chapters old characters showed up. At least one from every book. If I had listened to them all in a row I might have liked it better but I didn't and it was very distracting trying to remember the other stories. No real chemistry this time. This one is going back. I'm not sure if I'll buy the next one.
