PARANORMAL INTRIGUE,DUTY & LOVE MAKE A GREAT COMBO
Six handsome hunky time travelling Warriors working for the Fae battling evil and saving realms then moving on to the next evil threat. This was a d..Show More »elicious start to DG's new paranormal series that had fast paced action, mystery, magic, a murdering demon, romance, sex, love, evil siblings, a few twists - and all this was intertwined with the 'oh, who is it?' basis of the storyline that keeps you guessing..... and your earphones glued in.
Great characters, Hugh the leader of The Shields is instantly attracted to Mina however they were there to do a job and so he tried to fight his attraction to the lovely Mina but, of course, he failed. However, her family had really done a great job in tormenting her through the years so her self-worth was at zero but despite that she started to believe him. Hugh had been deceived before by love and just couldn't trust her and this played a big part in the story which, unfortunately, became repetitive and a bit annoying coupled with Mina's constant low self esteem issues sadly lost this otherwise exciting listen a point from me.
Worth a credit? Now we've met the characters, learned some of the who, what's and whys of The Shields the foundation has been set and I can't wait to discover what imaginative supernatural story-lines DG will conjure up for us in her forthcoming books as she adds and subtracts the Warriors in the series. Sorry, back to the worth a credit question - well that should of been easily answered by my review - an absolute YES.
Phew, where to start, a group of hot immortals called The Shields who battle, on behalf of the Fae, an unknown enemy who keeps throwing different para..Show More »normal entities at them in the hope of destroying Earth as it has done with other realms.
There's a strong, thrilling, flowing storyline that includes time-travel, supernaturals, magic, interesting likeable and loveable characters who, despite challenges, remain loyal, thoughtful, tender and totally drool-worthy heroes. This challenge (I'm not going to give anything away) seemed simple for Roderick as he finds Elle straight away but fate stepped in and threw a curve ball which resulted in 3 evil Harpies being summoned, terror, a battle of good v evil, someone's untimely death and a time-travelling rivetting fight to the death.
The romance has instant attraction, denial (why do they bother) a building trust and sexual awareness that eventually leads to passion, lust, hot sex .... and love.
Worth a credit? It's another big YES written and billowing across a clear blue sky.
As a PNR fan I'm loving The Shields series along with the imaginative characters and situations that DG so vividly creates which are so entertaining t..Show More »hat it makes listening to one of her books such an enjoyable experience and they'll have you routing for the good guys all the way.
Cole is a gorgeous (naturally), charismatic immortal member of The Shields and he's been raised and trained by the Fae in weapons warfare but he's a fully paid-up member of the 'love em and leave em club'..... that is until he sets eyes on Shannon who's been transported through time unwittingly to help in the forthcoming battle against the latest threat and, of course, to meet Cole.
Good adventure, action-packed, likeable characters with a tender, sweet romance and naturally their quest brings them one step closer to defeating The Evil one. However, as this book is not quite 6 hrs long I felt it suffered slightly because of this and, as a result, I didn't enjoy this one to the same extent as the previous books (but hey that's just me being greedy I guess). You may say outch at the price for a 5hr 43 mins listen but DG did pack a lot into it.
Worth a credit? The whole series so far has held me captivated so that's a YES and I've already Pre-Ordered books 4 & 5 so I guess that makes me one of DG's committed fans too.
I have been a huge fan of this paranormal series from the start and this has the usual blend of supernatural characters - Time Travelling Warriors, De..Show More »mons, Fae and, of course, 'The Great Evil'.
There was adventure as Val and Gabriel have to find the next 'chosen one' and that brought about intrigue, secrets, surprises and romance but Val has to come to terms with the demons from his past before he can finally move on and Nicole is there to help him (lucky girl). We hear more about Gabriel's past and his personality in this book as an obvious build-up to the final book.
I've enjoyed some of her previous books from this series a little more as this one seemed to have less action, less adventure, less sex and there were a few unexplained events - hence the less than normal star rating from me.
Worth a credit? Well of course I have to say YES, despite everything, it was an enjoyable listen and a 'must have' addition to the series (if a little flat) and I've already pre-ordered 'A Warrior' Heart' - the final book in this series (boo hoo).
ALL THE PLAYERS ARE IN 1 PLACE FOR THE EPIC ENDING
I can't believe it but the journeys and battles are all finally over, finished, ended, ceased and concluded but phew what a conclusion it was..... (an..Show More »d I must say the cover's not too bad to look at either).
As DG's captivating enjoyable series ends we have to say a fond farewell to the loveable group of Ancient Warriors in this final action-packed battle between good vs. evil. Gabriel, the last of the immortal loyal friends, finally has all his questions answered when attraction flares and his soul remembers Jayna, the last of The Chosen. However, she arrives as a hateful pawn in this deadly battle with a secret agenda of her own - revenge, but she unknowingly holds the key to unlocking Gabriel's memories but like Pandora's box, once unlocked it's contents have far reaching consequences.
In this fast-paced ending DG's talented writing enables the listener to conjure up such vivid imagery as the Fae, The Warriors and their partners as they overcome all the Demonic obstacles in the ultimate fight to finally defeat The Great Evil and to all get their happily ever after endings.
Worth a credit? If you're into fantasy/romance, as I am, then the answer has to be a YES. It's the last in a series so not really advisable as a stand-alone listen because you'll have missed so many thrilling exciting stories - so go back to book 1 and enjoy.
