I didn't hate this book. It was an ok read, but the story itself was lacking in several areas. While there is plenty of sexual tension (and I mean ple..Show More »nty) between our heroine and no fewer than 3 different men, and while this sexual tension is described in explicit detail, there's very little actual sex in this book, even between the hero and heroine. Also, there seems to be MORE sexual tension between the heroine and the first "villain" than there is between her and the hero. Indeed, it seems most of the first half of the book is dedicated to this guy. The heroine herself, well, she was a bit too pretty, too nice, too caring, too perfect for my taste. Then, in the epilogue, the author makes a feeble and unsuccessful attempt to make Lily look tougher, but the attempt fell flat. By that time, you're a bit over the girl.
Aside from all that, the book just didn't seem paced right. Because of the way the book was set up, it seemed I barely got to know the hero.
I will give one warning. Some of the situations in the book border closely on rape. If those sort of situations are upsetting to you, I wouldn't get this book.
On the other hand, I thought the narrator did a fine job with his southern accents, and I loved his clipped British accent when he was reading the narration. This contrast seemed to help me to better keep track of conversation.
The world and the premise behind the book aren't bad either, and I will read at least one more book in this series because I'm hoping with a different heroine and more exposure to reoccurring characters, things will smooth out.
Firstly, I love the BBW series, I like the plots which are unusual, with some twists, great characters and come on, who wouldn't like a handsome were..Show More »wolf to take home. Now the but - I didn't think this was as good as the 1st book in the series - that's my only complaint - well that and they could be a bit 'hotter'.
This series just keeps getting better and better with each new book, which is a real surprise since most series drop off. This is the story of Lucas ..Show More »and Dannai, 2 very different people but yet they compliment each other so well. In this book there is a little bit of everything, werewolves, witches, warlocks, and vampires. Lucas is a werewolf who hates magic and Dannai is a witch, healer, and a dormant. The story line continues from the first 2 books and it is interesting to see the over all story unfold. Old enemies come back and there are new ones as well along with old friends still making appearances.
The combination of Ms. Walden's writing ability and Gildart Jackson's narration makes this a very enjoyable series to follow.
