Usually, I am quickly involved in the tale Susan Mallery spins. However, with this particular audiobook it took me a while, The narrator was juvenile ..Show More »in her performance of this book and that detracted from my enjoyment. One of the few times I wish I had read the book instead of listened to it. Too bad. I hope the narrator for the next book in the series is better.
Susan Mallery books are among my favorites reads (listens). But if you're expecting the same tone as the Fool's Gold series you might be disappointed..Show More ». I really liked the characters in this book (though not in the first book of the series) and was so involved I found myself crying all the time. That's the difference - there is a heavier or more serious tone to this book. Reminded me of Kristan Higgins' books.
I just don't know. Something was missing from this book. I can normally relate to or connect with the characters in Susan's books but not this one. Th..Show More »is book started off interesting but quickly lost all interest in it. If this was a show on tv or a movie I would of turned it off. But since I bought it, I finished it. Something was lacking, just not what I have come to expect from a Susan Mallery book. Nothing seemed to really get fix, or come to a conclusion. Everyone in the book just said oh Hey this is my problem, problem solved. Nothing was really worked threw or talked about like you would expect from a book. I would of thought this was an abridge version.
