Seventh Son has always been one of my favorite books. I waited for a very long time for an unabridged audio version. I was a little worried that it ..Show More »wouldn't live up to my high expectations, but the cast more than delivered. All the readers are so very talented. My only complaint is that Rev. Thrower sometimes lapses in and out of his Scottish accent, but it happens at appropriate enough times.
Seventh Son is creative storytelling at its very best. As an "alternate history" of America, you can't beat this book for color and charm. The characters are thoroughly believable and sympathetic.
Frontiersy magic-stories might be a departure for Card fans who are used to his sci-fi works, but give Seventh Son and its sequels a try anyhow. Card comes through with his usual brilliant characterization, real dialogue, and perfectly paced plot.
By the grace of some higher being I have been blessed by two great series from the same Author. Orson Scott Card has been the writer of my twenties an..Show More »d hopefully as I turn Thirty (two weeks from now) he will continue for another decade (at least). I started this unabridged version of Alvin Journey Maker mere minutes after finishing it's predecessor (the time it took me to jump to my laptop, search in Audible and pay for the @#$@ thing :) and with the sad knowledge that there was no unabridged book three. After a week of driving and listening, and driving for the sake of listening (and ignoring 'Husband' for the sake of listening) I finished this exquisite movie of characters and adventure to find that only five days before, the third book, Prentice Alvin, had been released.
So instead of telling you how great, wonderful, fantastic and interesting this book is (well DUH!) I'd like to send a message to the Author, and the narrators of this series (and the Ender series because thankfully you guys stick together). You are all brilliant (though I still can't tell you apart), your readers love you and Please Please Please continue the wonderful work.
I've listened to this book (actually the whole series) multiple times. Card is a great writer and the voices are awesome. The Alvin Maker series is on..Show More »e great series worth listening to over and over.
