This book is entertaining - I often am able to pull clever, well written young adult fiction into my adult fiction list and enjoy the hell out of them..Show More ». This book was much more difficult to do so - relying heavily on sarcastic, teenage humor and relationships.
If you are a teenager - you will like this book. If you are an adult looking to a bit of fun...I'd look for another book that won't have you rolling your eyes.
After I finished listening to City of Bones I couldn't wait until book two, City of Ashes was released. To fully appreciate it, I re-listened to book ..Show More »one and then continued straight into book two.
The first thing I noticed is the different narrator, which at first I thought would be an issue, but it wasn't. Natalie Moore did a wonderful job and after only 15 minutes or so I forgot she was a different narrator.
As the adventure continued in this book you find yourself in a world full of thrills, excitement, puzzlement, joy, sadness, love, war, and the want for more. Could there be in the future?
I have been waiting on pins and needles for the final installment on this series. And Cassandra Clare definitely delivers. She has so many plot twis..Show More »ts and shocks, that continues in this book. Action packed and brilliant. Definitely not a disappointment, I am just sorry this is the last one. I fell in love with her characters and wish to read more about them. She could definitely be ranked up there with JK Rowling on her brilliant ideas and shocking plot twists. I even bought the books on hardcover because I loved them so much!
At first the author intended this series to be a triology. So for those who read city of glass two years ago must thought it was the last book of ..Show More »the mortal instruments. I thought the first three books are wonderful but didn't expect much from the 4th book. I mean for Valentine and Sebastian being dead and all, how good can the story be? But just like Clockwork angel, Cassandra Clare never lets me down, not once. This book is clearly not the end of the series, so we all have to be patient.
As for the narrators, I think they are, without a doubt, Horrible!!!!!! The narrator for city of ashes and city glass is wonderful. Don't understand why they bother to change one. If you look the narrators up, you will see that they find two hot people who look just like Clary and Simon, which doesn't even matter one bit!!! I mean this is an audiobook, not a movie. I still recommend buying the book. By the way, my stars all goes to the book.
I don’t know about you, but putting the three of them together seems to work extremely well. To be honest, there are some relationships in this book I..Show More » just don’t really care about, especially Maia and Jordan. They are simply boring and can’t seem to fit into this book at all. But all of this is fine as long as the story of Clary and Jace is still good. And it was. They have one of the most torturing, yet fascinating relationships I’ve ever read. As for Sebastian……I don’t even know where to start. He is possibly the best villain ever created. Charming, intelligent, manipulating, handsome, cunning…….a true mastermind. Overall, I am still a huge fan of The Mortal Instruments and cannot wait for the last installment, City of Heavenly Fire!
Molly C. Quinn is a total disaster! Why doesn’t Simon & Schuster ever listen to us? She had already ruined City of Fallen angels for me and now this? All the characters sounded the same to me and everything that came out of her mouth was unbearable! Please change the narrator for the next book!
