First of all, I'm not one that likes when an author changes the narrator for each book in the series. Coming off The Siren which is narrated by a man..Show More » that I found captivating and put a definite dark intense spin on the story; I was certainly surprised going into this book as the narrator is a woman.

I do not want to take away from the narrator as she was very good, however, I had already pictured the characters in my mind a particular way through the voice impressions of the first book's narrator, so I felt that I was starting over with a new story.

I found this book less dark and intense, maybe do to the new female narrator and her impressions. The story was very intriguing and gripping in a different manner than the first and found myself more in Soren's corner, probably because Nora is less frightened of him which took away the complete dark intensity of the first book.

I am really finding it difficult to understand the attraction to Wesley....maybe the next book will shine some light.

All in all, the series is very very good, but do be aware that this series may be controversial to many.
