I have the entire "Others" series and it's worth a read at least once a year. I sometimes go through it twice if I have time; it's that good.. In Audi..Show More »o, it's even better thanks to Kate Reading.

However, having said that, I would like to point out that the books are WAY out of order. The sequence of events has a chronology, and to get the most out of the series you should listen to or read the books in the following order.

1. Book 6 "One Bite with a Stranger"
2. Book 8 "Big Bad Wolf"
3. Book 10 "Prince Charming Doesn't Live Here"
4. Book 11 "Black Magic Woman"
5. Book 12 "Not Your Ordinary Faerie Tale"
6. Book 1 "Wolf at the Door"
7. Book 2 "She's no Faerie Princess"
8. Book 3 "The Demon you Know"
9. Book 4 "Howl at the Moon"
10. Book 7 "You're so Vein"
11. Book 9 "Born to be Wild"
12. Book 5 "Walk on the Wild Side"

If you follow this list, you will enjoy the series a LOT more.

Christine had her books published out of order, sometimes with different publishers, and it wound up being a bit of a hassle to get the chronology sorted out. According to the author, the correct order is as follows:
1) One Bite With a Stranger
2) Big Bad Wolf
3) Prince Charming Doesn't Live Here
4) Black Magic Woman
5) Not Your Ordinary Fairy Tale
6) On the Prowl
7) Drive Me Wild
8) Hungry Like a Wolf (rewrite of Fur Play, not on audible, expected release June 25, 2013)

10) She's No Faerie Princess
11) The Demon You Know
12) Howl at the Moon
13) Walk on the Wild Side
14) You're So Vein

For non readers of the series, my only suggestion is that you read it! It's great!

Now to get to this book, On the Prowl. I think it resonated so much with me because the heroine, Saskia, a tiger shifter, was a bit of a different sort to the "classic" paranormal heroine. She was raised very "old school", to be the keeper of home and hearth for a powerful husband, and was reasonably content in that roll. She consents to an arranged marriage with Nicolas, another tiger shifter from the old and powerful Praeda family whom she had met only once as a girl. This story begins with their marriage.

Of course, Saskia has a few second thoughts on exactly what her role is once faced with the reality of her marriage and the insensitive, if not downright callous treatment from her new groom. With the help of a few of our old friends, heroines from previous books, Saskia decides that a balance must be found that both she and Nicolas can both live with.

While trying to find some harmony and perhaps even love in their marriage, the newlyweds are also struggling to figure out who is plotting to frame Nicolas for an attempted murder.

Saskia proves that women don't have to be tough to be strong, and I really enjoyed her as a character. Nicolas, of course, was all strong and male and alpha. Watching how she maneuvers him towards their HEA was quite entertaining.

I listened to this book almost straight through! It started off strong and held my interest throughout. I love the world Christine Warren has create..Show More »d in this series. Each book can stand on its own and they don't have to be read in order, but it is great to encounter the characters from previous books.

The "Faerie Princess" is one of my favorite characters so far. She is strong, independent, and a little haughty when needed to combat her domineering werewolf. They fight often, but making up is completely worth it.

The performance is good. The narrator does an excellent job of creating distinctly different voices for each character and giving them a little personality.

I will probably listen to this book again in the future!

So this was the third book of Christine Warren's I've enjoyed.

The premise is one that's becoming almost formulaic: contemporary woman ..Show More »who's attracted to but has issues w/a hunky vampire/were/whatever. This book was fun because the woman is 'hosting' a fiend who's not just the sexist jerk he seems to be. Well, at least not all the time. The hero is a demon (as opposed to a fiend) and does his best to deny the relationship with the woman because he's too old/serious/whatever for her. .

There's more than enough sexy scenes to encourage you to not leave this where your younger listeners may listen to it -- but what makes the book unusual was the bickering/banter between the characters. Rather like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plub wandering into a Laurell K. Hamilton book.

There's humor in all three of these books -- but it was a definite addition to this book. An apprecicated addition.

Warren always writes a story that you don't want to stop listening to (or reading) and Kate Reading is one of the best as far as narration goes. I've yet to come across one of the series that I didn't like, and am purchasing #10 today.

I have been waiting for this story to be told for a long time. Unfortunately, it was ..Show More »less than stellar. There was way too much sex for the amount of story line, and the plot was so thin you could see through it. If the truth be known, the series would have been better off without this addition.
