What I love about Susan Elizabeth Phillips is that you are guaranteed a story that is charming, funny and sexy. She has a great way of making the read..Show More »er feel like they are in the story. This book was entertaining and great to listen to. This book is the first in the "Chicago Stars" series. I listened to them out of order but each story can stand on its own. It was good however, to where it all started. Phoebe is such full of life yet lacks confidence due to her bad history with men. I think many women can relate in one way or another with her story. This was a heartwarming enchanting story and I would list it as one of my favorites by this author.
Susan Elizabeth Phillips is wise and wonderful and this is the best of her darn near perfect books.
Bobby Tom Denton is the best ever. If you h..Show More »aven't met him, you owe it to yourself. Don't waste another minute.
Light, fun, a good "beach book" but with an intriguing story line and great characters. A feel good light read that had me laughing out loud. A story ..Show More »about a nerdy female professor looking for a dumb man to father her baby so he/she won't grow up to be nerdy like she was. A balancing of the genes so to speak. The main characters Jane (the professor) and Cal (the football jock) have a wild ride from start to finish. Totally enjoyable and well read. A good break from some of the heavier books.
Susan Elizabeth Phillips uses characters that you met in Nobody’s Baby But Mine for this novel. This one is less predictable, and I enjoyed every hou..Show More »r of it. Anna Fields is an excellent narrator. This is a romantic comedy with a little suspense thrown in.
I usually do not choose to read contemporary romance but SEP was when Diana Gabaldon recommended ‘Natural Born Charmers’ I thought I would..Show More » given this author a try.
This by far was one of my favorite Chicago Stars books – the other being No Baby But Mine. I loved the 2 main characters in this book .. they have great chemistry together .. SEP makes you cry and laugh all in this one books.
Anna Field's narration is superb and her death is a great lose. There were several recording issues – lines being repeated.
I have since listen to ALL the Chicago Stars books – have enjoyed them all but they do tend to follow a similar story line.
I don't know what prompted me to download this audiobook and start listening to it. Maybe I was in a funk and wanted something light to cheer me up? O..Show More »r maybe it was recommended on one of Audible's editors' lists? It's not the kind of book I go for. It's fluffy and sweet - a predictable romantic comedy with a slightly annoying protagonist and a leading man whose name is "Heath Champion". Heath Champion. Seriously?! But despite all of this, and despite a female narrator who over reaches trying to capture the bravado of some of the male characters in the story, I really enjoyed the book. Once I was in, I was hooked. It was a great listen - that perfect romantic comedy that leaves you feeling cheered up and satisfied.
Although I read one or two of the Chicago Stars series I have really enjoyed the rest of the series on Audible and am glad I have them to go back to l..Show More »isten to when I want a fun, easy listen. The characters are flawed and have issues and that makes them more realistic. As in all of SEP books, there is fun and snappy dialog and good sexual chemistry. The sex scenes are steamy and fun without being unnecessarily graphic like a lot of authors are doing today. As I have noted with some other SEP books, there is a primary couple, but also a love story for a secondary couple. I think April Fields does a GREAT job narrating and changing voices. She even does a fine job singing a little in this one!
