I know some of the other reviewers..Show More » were disappointed by this book, but I can honestly say I wasn't. If you started with book 1, you're going to be surprised to see that Lady Jeannette does, in fact, have a heart. I thought the author did a good job of explaining her behavior in the previous novel. But, the person you're really rooting for in this book is Darragh O’Brien. He has just the right mix of bad boy attitude and good guy behavior. I also like that this book doesn't end with the oft-employed "they got married and lived happily ever after" ending. Instead, she chose to show some of the problems they had after the marriage.

Like any good historical romance novel, Tracy Ann Warren's writing style brought you back in time without beating you over the head with mundane, useless descriptions of attire and buildings. Instead, she gives you just enough to be able to envision the world she describes. And Bianca Amato continues to do an excellent job as narrator.

Eliza is basically shopping for a husband after she inherits her aunt's fortune. Her friend Violet enlists her brother-in-law Kit to help coach Eliza in her first season as an eligible heiress within the ton. The fact that Eliza is secretly in love with Kit and that Kit can't see love if it hits him over the head makes for a funny and frustrating situation for everyone involved. I wanted to wring Kit's neck sometimes. Very enjoyable story, light and fun. I am now looking for the other books in the series. If only audible would add them to its list.
