When Sunny Charles arrives in small-town Parfait, Florida, the last thing she expects is a note from her aunt instructing her to take control of the famous Sunny Side Up Café. After going through a vicious divorce, losing her entire life savings, and, oh yeah, having the Russian mob on her tail, Sunny’s willing to give it a shot, even if it means trying her hand at cooking. Let’s face it, eggs over easy aren’t exactly "easy" to make, but they beat facing off against armed men with guns.

Sunny Charles has only just gotten used to running her aunt’s café. It’s been a learning curve, what with the moody customers, the eggs over easy, and now, her chef leaving for a baking course for five full days. With him gone, she’s in charge of everything "food" - and cooking is not her strong suit. Sunny’s got to hire outside help, but when she goes over to her aunt’s best friend’s house looking for advice, she walks in on a dead body instead. And the murderer, shrouded in darkness, mid-escape....

A dead ex-husband...When Sunny Charles opens her aunt’s café on a sunny Monday morning in small-town Parfait, Florida, she’s looking forward to a day of challenging work cooking and serving customers. The last thing she expects is to find her ex-husband lying dead on the floor, right between the coffee bar and the cake stand. Distraught, confused, and definitely a prime suspect, Sunny has to figure out why her ex-husband is even in Parfait in the first place, let alone murdered.

What’s on the menu at the Sunny Side Up Café? Murder...When Sunny Charles’ aunt comes back from her vacation, Sunny couldn’t be happier. Aunt Rita will take over and relieve all the pressure. No more dealing with mean customers, or worrying about when the air-conditioner will go on the fritz, or whether a local food vlogger is about to drop dead in the middle of the café. At least, that’s what she thinks. Things never go to plan in Parfait, and when the dead body of her aunt’s worst enemy turns up on the beach, everybody’s convinced that Aunt Rita had a lot to do with it.

Life has returned to normal in Parfait, Florida. Unfortunately, normal is a relative term for Sunny Charles, who's hoping that everything will stay peaceful in the Sunny Side Up Café. When Sunny's aunt goes missing, she's convinced that nefarious causes are to blame, ones related to Sunny's looming past and newly deceased ex-husband. To make matters worse, a friend of Sunny's new beau is murdered - a case of poisoning by lemon meringue pie. If Sunny doesn't solve the case, she might wind up losing two people in one fell swoop.
