I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. Gene Blake does a wonderful job with narration of this and book 3.His character voices are dead on creepy..Show More »! Orangefield used to be called Pumpkinfield in olden times. There are stories and sightings of the lord of death Samhain, but they are just stories until a boy goes missing. The police are looking but only 1 will believe and go further than anyone to solve this case. This book was just not my thing. The good was the development of the atmosphere and Detective Grant. I feel that the plot was fairly uninspired and ..Show More »the characters were only saved from obscurity by the artistic talents of Narrator Jack. Personally glad that this was a gift and not a wasted credit for me.
I listened to the Audible version. The 3rd in a series, this book was nearly great, except I found some of it a bit confusing. We are given back the first..Show More » narrator,Gene Blake, who does wonderful character voices.Orangefield, once known as Pumpkinfield,is famous for it's Halloween traditions. There is a big festival, a carnival and pumpkins are everywhere. Lurking within some of them are spirits and envoys of the Lord of the Dead.Sam Hain finds that his whole being is in question. The battle for the world will happen on what may be the last Halloween ever.A great culmination to a really fun series.
