This book is a welcome addition to the Gansett Island series and Joe and Jenny every bit as engaging as characters introduced in the previous books. ..Show More »I particularly enjoyed the fact that while this listen focuses on Joe and Jenny it also includes the ongoing story of other characters in the series. Unfortunately the narration is just as bad as in the previous books.
My Review: Overall... 3.5 star Performance.... 4.0 star Story... 3.5 star
This is one of those books that I honestly think I wo..Show More »uld have enjoyed more if I'd read it rather than listened to it. And I can honestly say that I think this is the first book that I've found that I felt that way about. There's a lot of emotion to this book and listening to it on audio, I think that I lost some of that emotional connection I would have found if I'd been reading the book to myself. I'm not sure why, but it was something I noticed for the first time when listening to this audio.
And there is a lot of emotion to this book. Sydney lost her entire family, two children and a husband, in a car wreck. When she got involved with her husband, she broke Luke's heart. At the time, she was looking for someone with more ambition and money than Luke brought to the table. It hurt him horribly because Sydney was the girl for him. Now that she's back on the island, he can't resist the allure of her.
I had a hard time with Sydney at times. She broke Luke's heart and so many times throughout the story, it almost felt like she was toying with him. I loved Luke's character and hurt so much for him when she would pull back.
There are several close call/emotional points in this book, but there is one point that I really had an issue with where Sydney put her dog in front of Luke. They are both hurt and I understand why the dog is important to her, but I still think she should put Luke first.
I didn't find this book as riveting as the other two I've listened to in the series, but it was still an entertaining read.
I enjoyed this listen as a welcome addition to the Gansett Island series. There is great chemistry between the main characters, Grant and Stephanie, ..Show More »and a strong connection with characters from other books in the series. Unfortunately the narration lacks expression and does little to bring the characters to life. This series would be much more enjoyable with a different narrator.
I enjoyed this listen as part of the Gansett Island series. As usual there was great chemistry between the main characters and an ongoing connection ..Show More »with previous books in the series. Unfortunately the narration seemed even worse in this listen than in the ones that came before.
The is a fun and engaging listen and a great addition to the series but flounders a bit as a stand alone. Since I can't see the series order on my IP..Show More »od I ended up listening to this one first. I'm now working my way through the series from the beginning and will listen to this one again in order. Unfortunately the narration seems to be equally bad for others in the series as well which definitely detracts from the listening experience
I purchased this book as part of the series and it works in that context, but just. This is the story of Tiffany and Blaine and it works because of t..Show More »heir connection with other characters in the series. Otherwise it runs from one erotic session to another as they work their way through a variety of sex toys available from Tiffany's shop with little romance or story line. I don't regret spending the credit since I am enjoying the series but for me this listen was not on par with books 1 to 6. Character development is weak, the plot is predictable, there is more erotica than romance and the narration is still terrible. On the upside there are updates on Mack and Maddie, Joe and Jennie and Seamus and an introduction to characters and stories that are to follow.
I found this enjoyable and an easy listen. Given it was an audio book, the numerous side stories was a bit disconcerting and it took a while to sort..Show More » out who was who especially as this was the first book that I read in the series. The narrator did a good enough job, not adding nor detracting from the storyline.
As the tension between the two main characters was overshadowed by the numerous side stories some of which tendered to be just a 'repeat' of each other , I would think twice about listening to another book by this author.
