So the first part of the series was pretty good but I was disappointed to say the least as to how I saw the love dynamic played out between two ..Show More »of the major characters in the book in the first series. I was going to give up on the book after that first one to be honest... but then the second part came and I decided to just continue seeing that the story was honestly quite good and I saw the potential of it being a great listen.

I know I was a bit hard on the narrator before, but this time around I am thoroughly convinced as to the narrator's ability to truly describe the feel of main character, Cassie, in the book. She did a very good job and portraying the feeling and the thought processes of the main character. Her tone was clear and the inflections in her voice was spot on. The voice portrayal of Faye as opposed to Cassie and Diana were well done and you generally had no problem with noting the differences between them. The story-line really did fall in line with the narrator this time and they provided a nice air of mystery, mysticism, realism and a taste of youthfulness to the whole book. The only 'qualm' would be that for the other members of the circle, you had a slight issue differentiating between them.

The story was just plain good. I was unhappy in the last book as to how the story was leading but then this second book even though it built quite well from the first book, did not fall into the trap of becoming a love obsessed story of forbidden teen love like most stories in this genre turns out to be at times. This book was able to sidestep that genre and replace it with a book filled with sheer intrigue. You understand and empathize with the main character in the book and the situation that she got herself into and how she seems to dig herself deeper and deeper into the hole and the subsequent consequences of it. It's shocking in the end how the book concludes, but it is also quite exciting and fitting I believe and leaves you almost drooling to start the next book. My Advice: Don't finish this book unless you have the 3rd part of the series in your library, because it ends on a cliffhanger and it would almost be torture to not just pick up where you left off.

Overall.... Downright great! Loved it!! I can't wait to get to the third book!

I must say that all in all... A good listen. This book lies somewhere between Harry Potter and Twilight I believe in terms of the general progression ..Show More »and genre of the story. It does not have that intense love dynamic of Twilight but not as action packed and dynamic as Harry Potter. The entire novel has the potential (the story line and the world the novel takes place in) had the potential to be much grander and much more enthralling I believe. The reason it falls short though is because the character development, as good as it was, was not great. The main character most certainly grew, into her own as the book progressed but a lot of the happenings, minor characters and the relationships in the book seem a bit rushed. This is one novel that could stand to be 2 books longer to really bring out the full potential of the novel itself.

The narrator grew on me. From the first, to the second and now to the third book, the narrator seemed to grow stronger and better with each book she did or maybe it was that I enjoyed the book more as it progressed. She embodied the full cast very very well I find and really did Cassie well in this.

As I stated above, the story was good, but it could have been great if I didn't think certain aspects of the book or development of the story wasn't rushed over. Certainly a good read, something to pass the time and honestly if the author comes out with another book to this I will listen it. That being said... it isn't particularly an awe inspiring book of epic proportions but simply a good listen. I liked it!

I wasn't sure how the book was going to turn after the previous books parts. Some interesting elements were introduced in this books, a couple new cha..Show More »racters as well and some surprising twists. The narration is what I have come to expect from The Secret Circle and delivers as I would expect it to with nothing extraordinary to speak of.

To be honest I thought the book series had ended after the third book. Everything appeared to be tied up to an extent and left me thinking there was nothing too major to be resolved. So I was quite surprised when I was browsing the site and found that there was another book out.

This fourth book to me reminds me of the first book where L.J Smith was putting the elements in place for the book to 'pick up' later on. It reminds also of one of the more annoying aspects of the books for me surrounding the teenage-fated-to-be-forever-love thing. That's not to say the book wasn't good and it did have a lot of exciting parts and twists about it, I actually enjoyed it and am also genuinely interested as to how it will proceed. I am a bit wanting as it regards to character development of anyone in the circle other than Cassie though... The circle is twelve witches and at most the only ones who had made any meaningful development/change to me are Cassie and Faye.

Overall to me a good starting point for what is to come.... Whatever it is....

The book went by pretty quickly actually and in a good way. It was one of those 'finish in one sitting' kind of books and leaves you somewhat wanting ..Show More »more and thinking that it ended well at the same time.

The Hunt builds pretty well off the previous installments and does well with throwing a couple twists and surprises throughout the series. A number of things did appear a bit (at best) predictable by my tastes but I could probably shrug this off as being due to being accustomed so much to this genre of writing I can almost predict where the author is going with some things. That being said though, some of the things that were thrown at us throughout the scope of the title even caught me by surprised and I am left anticipating the next book to see how Cassie is able to maneuver her way out of the happenings in this title.

One thing that strikes me most in these books and it is brought about a bit more if you ask me by Cassie's mother involvement in the circle... but I can't help wondering to myself.... What the heck is up with the other parents in these books?! So many things happen in these titles to leave me a bit baffled to say the least as to why all the parents of the circle members aren't more involved in what is going on. As secretive as the kids are I am sure the parents aren't oblivious enough to know something is up and that maybe their children are in mortal danger. Outside that little qualm (which I have been having since the 2nd book) the entire title was pretty enjoyable.

The entire title remained true to the series and the genre it is trying to portray and the narration was also very fitting. As before, I look forward to see the follow up to this title.
