When oh when are the publishing houses going to realise that the narrator can make or break a book!!?? Slow start, I nearly stopped listening to it, ..Show More »but persevered and thankfully it did get better. I just couldn't relate to the main character - a 17 year old heiress that is spoilt rotten and won't listen to anyone so she is sent away to Rome for 3 months. But her Uncle takes her to a seedy brothel and accidentally sells her virginity to a rich American.
Fast forward 4 years - she has now grown up (and is more likeable) but she is totally disillusioned with men and marriage. She and her mother has to do business with the rich American who wants what he paid for and won't take no for an answer.
Do I think I wasted my credit - No
Would I download the next in the series - Probably
Again, I just couldn't get passed the narrator's voice which ruined the book for me - in fact I had it on double speed and then kept forwarding the ch..Show More »apters to get to the end partly also due to the fact that I couldn't warm to the female character's stupidity! The plus points were that I liked Delaney's character.
I've already downloaded the 3rd book so I suppose I'll have to give it a try - let's hope that one doesn't have the same theme that the previous 2 had namely weak, whiney, whinge women .
