I was recently introduced to the fairy-focused Wicked Lovely series and have now listened to the first four books. I can honestly say that Ink Exchan..Show More »ge, which is the second book in the Wicked Lovely series, is the best book in this series. Ink Exchange delves into the inner working of the dark fairy court. Melissa Marr creates a rich background for both Niall and Irial while highlighting the dark court. In the process of creating a background for Niall and Irial, Marr creates the two strongest characters in this series. Niall and Irial are fantastic because they have lived life but are not broken by it (hopefully). Ink Exchange, and the Wicked Lovely series as a whole, does deal with more mature topics than the age group recommended for this book. I AM NOT suggesting that preteens and teens stay away from the books in this series. I AM suggesting that parents might enjoy reading these books with their kids and discussing the characters and the choices they make.
reader is slow, monotonous- or maybe its the book?
I have listened to the first 2 books in the series mostly enjoying both of them. The narrators could have both been better, but the plot kept me liste..Show More »ning to them. I liked the reader much better when he read the last book.
That leads me to believe it is merely the book that is bad. I have had it in my library for the last 2 months and have only been able to stand about half of it. Every time I start it up again I think "Oh yeah, now I remember why I turned this off!"
Halfway through the book it still appears to be going in no particular direction, it is slow, and they keep revisiting characters I have had no interest in learning more about from the first 2 books.
I had to write a review for this to spare others the regret. Even if you enjoyed the first two books like I did you will probably find this one a lost cause.
I loved this series, or should i say i loved it up until i read this book. This was the final installment in the Wicked Lovely series. I could have do..Show More »ne without purchasing this, it was definately mediocre when compared to the others in this series.(which i thought were fabulous!) and the ending? well, all i can comment on that is "what a disappointment!" I should have passed on this one.
