I was afraid th..Show More »at I would be tired of the story line after the first two books, but that was not the case. This book was just as good and kept my attention.

If you like the first three Sackett books you might also like books by G.A. Henty ("In the Reign of Terror" is a good one to start with or "The Cat of Bubastes".). Lots of history and adventure that's good for all ages.

The history is fasitating, the ..Show More »chacters are real as you listen to the story line. Each book goes along with the others but does not have to be in order to understand the story. We have listened to several of the stories more than once. In fact we had most all of the Sackett books on tape or CD and are now purchacing them all over again through Audible. Anyone interested in early American history and lore will appricate all of the series. Jubal Sackett is the longest of the books in the series, and our favorite, so far.

L'Amour is a master of understatement who manages to give us the feel of an era without cluttering his writing with dusty details. The Sacketts often ..Show More »seem larger than life, but they represent a kind of pioneer who surely must have existed in that time, before America was a network of highways and telephone lines. Echo's adventure might have been set in a modern environment, as she is the same type of individual as V.I. Warshawsky or Stephanie Plum, with the same courage and determination supported by genuine ability. Her story is well worth the hearing.

I like the Sacketts. This story is especially sweet in Tell's quest to find his kidnapped wife. I really like David Strathairns reading.
