It's February 3, 1959 in Clear Lake, Iowa and Buddy Holly is in town for a big rock 'n roll show. To impress their dates, high school seniors and best friends, Billy and DJ, have "borrowed" a prized Cadillac belonging to Billy's uncle who is on vacation in Florida. It's the perfect time for DJ to try out his new, hand-held tape recorder and bootleg the highly anticipated show. The next morning Billy and DJ hear the tragic news that Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper, while traveling to the next show, have been killed in a plane crash. The Day The Music Died.
