1st presentation: "Ministry as Affecting the Minister": 2nd presentation: "Moral Loneliness within Life" and "Ministry as Affecting the Minister" :Ministry as both a Faith-drama and an Ego-drama. Schools of ministry are good at preparing us in how to do ministry. They are less adept in preparing us in terms of what ministry will do to us. How do we cope with the grandiosity that is triggered by success? How do we deal with the anger and bitterness that besets us when our ministry is going badly? How do we handle our sexuality inside all of this?
Fr. Rolheiser outlines four essentials for a deep spiritual life. First, like the good but sad, rich young man we have to give our entire selves to the Lord. Secondly, we have to sustain and appreciate a high level of tension in our life as we deal with our basic humanity and our membership in the Church. Third, we have to go beyond our feelings and thoughts about faith and demonstrate it with our actions and our presence in the midst of God’s people.
