Story
A new adventure takes Phileas Fogg and his companions to India. There, the British engineer Banks has created a mechanical masterpiece on behalf of the Maharajah: a powerful steam engine in the shape of a life-size elephant. Transported by this impressive machine, our heroes set off on a journey through the depths of the Indian jungle. But not only wild animals lurk in the thicket, but also the ghosts of the past. For the English officer Munro, it is his nemesis from the days of the expeditionary force. And for our heroes, it is an old acquaintance who is once again reaching out for power.

Story
Why the Right Went Wrong offers a historical view of the right since the 1960s. Its core contention is that American conservatism and the Republican Party took a wrong turn when they adopted Barry Goldwater's worldview during and after the 1964 campaign. The radicalism of today's conservatism is not the product of the Tea Party, Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne writes. The Tea Partiers are the true heirs to Goldwater ideology.

Story
A noted scholar offers fresh ways of looking at two legendary American authors. Both F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway came into their own in the 1920s and did some of their best writing during that decade. Ronald Berman considers an array of novels and short stories by both authors within the context of the decade's popular culture, philosophy, and intellectual history.
