Jarl had gotten his riddle from a kindly, grandmotherly sort of witch. But friendly or not, she'd told him pretty firmly he had to solve it if he was to become a hero who could fight off evil and find his way home to Earth. She didn't warn him, however, that this very riddle would also lead him into the most bizzare adventures imaginable - and that he would soon find himself contending with ogres, bandits, talking trees, and the dark minions of the Shadowlord himself.
Jarl Koenig thinks his children and witch-wife, Mirza, are safely vacationing on the wonderworld Realm. Until Faf, a baby dragon, pops through the dimensions to California and gives Jarl some grim news: The vile Shadowlord is holding Mirza prisoner on Achaea, planet of Greek myths. And unless she helps the wizard suck the lifeforce from the mystic Bright One who dwells in Achaea's sun, the Shadowlord will kill Jarl and Mirza's three adventurous children.
What they wanted was adventure. What they got was a one-way ticket to the Shadowlord's world!
