When you live along an international border, the temptation to smuggle a small item or two (Cuban cigars, illicitly caught fish) across can be quite strong. When two women are asked to smuggle a box of steaks across, they readily agree. But the night is Halloween, and when the "steaks" end up eating a customs guard, there appears to be no way out in this comedy sketch from the Icebox of the Nation. Recorded before a live audience.

Up north on the very edge of America is the town of Icebox, Minnesota. And in tiny Icebox there is a family of three lovely ladies; a daughter, a mother, and a grandmother who together run the local newspaper. And trouble simply cannot leave these three "Scoop Sisters" alone.

"A.I.": A young programmer works long hours in the lab on the latest A.I. project. Funny that he can't ever remember leaving... "Gorblat's Jig": It's alien abduction meets fishing derby in this hilarious short subject. Recorded before a live audience. "A Distant Land": Years after leaving the planetary colony where she grew up, a woman returns as an Inspector General, only to discover that things have changed beyond imagining in this sci fi drama.

Soon, she must confront the demons of her past or fall victim to the harsh, Minnesota winter.

Founded in 2004, the Icebox Radio Theater in International Falls, Minnesota creates the best in full cast, audio entertainment. And the Scoop Sisters is one of its most popular series. A woman returns to her small, remote Minnesota home town to regroup after losing her job and ends up joining forces with her ex-hippie mother to solve mysteries!
