Old Gods of Appalachia

By: DeepNerd Media
  • Summary

  • In the mountains of central Appalachia, blood runs as deep as these hollers and just as dark. Since before our kind knew these hills, hearts of unknowable hunger and madness have slumbered beneath them. These are the darkest mountains in the world. How dare we think we can break the skin of a god and dig out its heart without bringing forth blood and darkness? Old Gods of Appalachia is a horror-anthology podcast set in the shadows of an Alternate Appalachia, a place where digging too deep into the mines was just the first mistake.

I love it

The narrator's ability to tell a story is excellent. I save episodes for long drives bc I know I can get lost in the story. Being from Appalachia myself, this series feels like home.

Lovecraftian feel in a unique wrapper

Love it already, Good ambient audio, amazing narration. you can really feel the level of invested the creators are when it comes to delivering a quality show. The story is engaging and original while not being too far outside the lines. An all around a great show and worth the listen.

Favorite Horror Anthology Ever

I absolutely love OGOA, I’ve listened to every episode and it is by far the best horror anthology I’ve heard. Engaging, terrifying, intriguing, and unsettling, I cannot emphasize enough how thrilling these twisting and intersecting tales of old Appalachian witchcraft, folklore, and haints and those characters with the (mis)fortune to cross these deep woods’ paths.

A Masterpiece

The hearts and minds that put this together and execute it so well are some of the real talent out there. One of the most riveting podcasts I've ever heard and now I'm a fan for life.

Wow, the terror!

I used to listen to this while I was driving around, just absently for fun. Though I believe the dynamic of the voices could be a little more developed, the presentation of the stories, as though it were being preached or told around a campfire really strikes a chord with me.

I love it.

While I was listening to it, back when it first came out on Stitcher, I got spooked because I thought I saw one of the monsters being described. A real hoot and a half, where enough description is given for a general idea, but the REAL WORK falls on the listener to see the story themselves. Truly, a treasure worthy of continued support.

Amazing stories!!!

Every story gives me goosebumps, and every episode teaches me more about this place I've never seen, with people I'd love to meet, to see things no mortal eye should see. Highly recommend!!!
