    It's LGBT FC's first-ever Mother's Day episode! Joining Daisy and Luke are two amazing mothers in LA's supporters culture community, Emily Grijalva (@xelaquetzal on Twitter) and Tiff Sanchez, who are also both members of Poderosas supporters group (@poderosas_acfc on Instagram and Twitter).

    First we recap an up-and-down run of form for both LAFC and Angel City FC. Then at 10' in, the Day in Gay brings some updates from state legislatures and courthouses for LGBTQ+ rights, efforts by some to ensure access in NCAA sports for transgender athletes, a possible coming out for men's footballers later this month, and a big retirement announcement in the international women's game.

    Then it's time to hear from our mothers, beginning at 16' with Emily Grijalva, who shares about her sons and supporting their exploration and growth. Then, at 39'30" we are joined by Tiff Sanchez, with a family of her own, talking about bringing her own approach and providing a safe space for her kids.

    Daisy and Luke are celebrating an LAFC derby win and here to remind y'all to be an ally. So this episode features two LAFC podcast hosts - JR Lebert (@lafc_thescarf on Insta and Twitter) and Travis Helwig (@travishelwig on Insta and Twitter) - who themselves are straight allies to the LGBTQ+ community.

    There's lots to recap at the start of the show, including cool news from overseas and announcing the winner of LGBT FC's first-ever Sexiest Men's Footballer March Madness Tourney.

    At 15' the Day in Gay brings some ups and downs - some anti-LGBTQ+ bills dying and others rising from the dead - followed by a sweet story from the south of Spain, an unexpected story out of the women's NCAA tourney, and a big surprise from professional women's basketball.

    Then it's time to hear from our allies. First, at 21'30", JR Lebert, host of Defenders of the Banc (@defendthebanc on Insta and Twitter), shares about being a teacher and organizer of youth soccer leagues. And then at 48'30" Travis Helwig, host of Happy Foot Sad Foot (@happyfootsadfoot on Insta and @hafosafo on Twitter), talks about creating community and turns the tables on our hosts.

  • Pride on the Pitch - with Collin Martin

    We are rolling into 2024 with North Carolina FC midfielder and, more importantly, the only currently out men's footballer in North America, Collin Martin!

    First, Bryant joins as guest co-host as we recap the first couple weeks of LAFC's MLS season and a big win for the US Women's National Team. Then at 10' we have a Day in Gay that brings some welcome news from across the country, an update on the tragic death of Nex Benedict, a big result for Jakub Jankto, and then queerness representing at the inaugural women's CONCACAF Gold Cup Final.

    Then at 18' we welcome Collin (Insta @cm7md and on Twitter/X @martcw12). He shares about his big coming out in 2018 while at Minnesota United, making him the only openly gay active men's footballer at the time, and also offers his thoughts on why more players aren't out and what it will take for a more LGBTQ+ supportive environment in the beautiful game.   • Here Comes the 2024 Season!

    Are you ready for some football? Daisy and Luke are joined in studio by our local guests, Reuben and James, and we're getting hyped for LAFC's 2024 season which is just days away. LAFC have made a number of new signings, including an LAFC original who is returning to LA. Also, Pride Republic will be hosting a happy hour a couple days before we all go to BMO to cheer on the black and gold - and you're invited!

    At 9', the Day in Gay starts with updates on legislative battles ramping up across the country and then a tragic story out of Oklahoma. Then we find out the latest on the Mexican national football federation and that homophobic chant, a cool new film about the American Samoa football team, another nation legalizing same-sex marriage, and the first-ever *LAFC* "Day in Gay" story.

    Then at 17', Reuben (@roobsmcgee on Instagram) and James (@terraplanner on Instagram), supporters of LAFC and members of Pride Republic, share with us how they came to the beautiful game, found each other, and hope to see more LGBTQ+ visibility in the beautiful game.

  • Protect Our Trans Familia 🏳️‍⚧️

    It's 2024, and Daisy and Luke are together again! MLS may be taking a break, but LGBT FC is coming in hot to kick off the new year.

    At 11' the Day in Gay kicks off with news of more proposed bils - yes, more - going after LGBTQ+ people and transgender people in particular. After that there's news of a possible new gay player in the English Football League, and then it's time to celebrate another country where same-sex marriage is now legal!

    Then LGBT FC welcomes two transgender athletes to share their stores - one who's currently training in several sports and the other who has retired from competing.

    First, at 19'15", Mack Beggs (@mack.beggs on Insta), who is featured in HBO and Hulu's "Changing the Game" (@changinggamedoc on Insta), shares about growing up an athlete while also discovering himself and what we need to be doing now to uplift more transgender and intersex athletes. And at 42'30" LGBT FC's first-ever anonymous guest shares some of his story playing sports on the boys teams as a kid and then transitioning as an adult and getting a new lease on life.

    Bryant and Luke are back on the road and bring you this special first episode of 2024 from the United Kingdom. What's more fun than going to an English football match? How about going to four of them in four days? Including Crystal Palace, Tottenham, West Ham, and Wrexham. And for this episode we have interviews with three supporters about their love of their respective sides.

    But first, at 12' the Day in Gay starts with some sad news of the recent passing of a gay sportscaster. Then there's a story from the NHL and a team's efforts to flout the league's ridiculous rules, the possibility of a group of footballers coming out later this year, and a well-earned retirement.

    Then at 17'30", Josh Dodd (@jsl_1994 on Insta and @JSL1994 on Twitter), supporter of West Ham United and member of the Pride of Irons, shares what it has been like coming out in 2023. At 29'30", Sophie Thorpe (@SophieHThorpe on Insta and @SophieThorpe on Twitter), supporter of Tottenham Hotspurs and member of the Proud Lilywhites, tells how a single moment in her childhood changed things forever.
