  • Fiftysomething Love - speed coaching Mary Beth about her dating life.
    May 15 2024

Welcome to a very special episode - I'm speed coaching Mary Beth about her dating life. We can't get into it all in the time frame we have, but it's a little taste of getting to what might help change.

15 She's a divorced mom of a young teenager and now has more time to focus on her own desires. Stopped dating a few years ago intentionally to work on her own things. Wasn't a priority, didn't like who she was meeting. It sounds and feels like a lot of work. She lacked some skills.

15 It's a different experience than when we were younger - we carry scars and are more protective, always looking for red flags. Could be good, could be too much examining. And sometimes not enough time is the truth.

40 Toxicity can be everywhere and nowhere at the same time, the apps can be toxic but I met my husband on Craigslist which was a sewer. I didn't carry the toxicity with me.

50 Do you meet anywhere in person? She doesn't go many places but she's outgoing and talks to people in public. Does she know how to flirt? Does she recognize someone interested? A friend told her she's misses opportunities.

20 Are you really interested in meeting anyone right now? Let's not be contradictory. Open to a partner, doesn't need a dad for the kid, doesn't need someone to pay her bills. Not searching for it.

20 She knows her value and is willing to stay single. But she's guarded around men. No vulnerability. She hasn't been able to count on a man. She doesn't want to get hurt.

40 Vulnerability is part of it! You have to be willing to put yourself out there.

40 In coaching, I teach how to minimize the risk.

00 Taking time to get to know someone. You CAN get hurt, that's the downside of love. Finding a person worth taking the risk may be difficult but it's also the cart before the horse. You need time.

21 There's someone she has a bit of a crush on someone.

00 Diane gives this assignment to her. Flirt in person with three guys, including the one she has a crush on. A guy needs a clear runway.

00 50 Places to Meet People Over 50 - where to meet them in person.
