  • Episode 5: Interview with Gina Petrushenko on Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace, Part One
    Jan 4 2024

This is part one of our fascinating interview with friend of the podcast, Gina Petrushenko. She is a Gender Equality Consultant with Spicy Brain and Add Gender in Sweden.

We asked Gina to consult on a situation Jenn was in at a previous job and tell us what her advice would have been.

We covered sexual harassment in service jobs, the barriers to making the workplace psychologically safe, the pitfalls of masking, the traps of an environment that outwardly appears diverse but isn't actually inclusive, and how to convince the people in power to make changes through objective studies and with outside help.

  • Episode 4: When Work Goes Bad Part 2: Toxic Workplaces and How to Avoid Them.
    Dec 5 2023

Is your workplace a cult? How do you spot a toxic workplace before it's too late? What's the deal with almond milk?

All these questions and more will be answered in part 2 of our 2-part series on toxic workplaces, bad bosses, and how to avoid them.

We'll talk about red flags for identifying toxic workplaces, the chronic stress to burnout to illness pipeline, the dangers of staying too long in a toxic environment, and the similarities between toxic workplaces and abusive relationships.

It's not all doom and gloom, though. We end on a good note! We'll also get into green flags, how to spot healthier workplaces during the interview process, and the good that can come from bad.

We hope this episode validates and informs you, and that it sparks your own conversations around boundaries and taking good care of your physical and mental health.

Also, please excuse the sirens in the background! We were recording in my old downtown apartment and soundproofing was not a thing.
