  • Bug has hit her 30s with a bump. An almost wedding, an almost ex-husband, and a bookshop that’s almost turning a profit. With the help of her best friend – free spirit, activist and all-round legend Winnie, she’s going to make it all come good. Probably. Definitely. Maybe.

    At least she’s got her friends around her. They may have only met through her book group, but when things are tough, who do you want beside you but Sami - a Phd holding, Bronte obsessed Cabbie; Fiona - a CEO with an ex she can’t forget; and James - a well-meaning rugby fan who hasn’t read a book for many years, but absolutely wants to give it a go.  

    This bittersweet romantic comedy follows the gang through heartbreak and adventure, over the course of the ten books they read at book group.  

    Jess Moore is a playwright, scriptwriter, and filmmaker. Her debut play, Gin for Breakfast received an Offie nomination for Best New Play. Her short films, BITTER LEMON and ALONE ONCE have screened internationally at festivals, including Cannes Shorts, Montreal Independent Film Festival, and DIFF. Her play, Next Time sold out at Edinburgh Fringe. She is writing and directing a short film version of that play, entitled To Have and To Hold.

Heading: Shows as optional, but it is not

This was an enjoyable listen. A bit sad in places and nothing that stands out as amazing, but a nice story. I have given it five stars because I liked it, nothing stood out to me as horrible, and I think it deserves a shot to be listened to. Everyone is different so it may not be to their liking but you never know until you listen.

like Love Actually for book lovers!

I loved this so much and will listen to it again and again. the cast is so talented and emotive without being overly dramatic. loved it and I hope they do something (ANYTHING) else. I'll be there for it!

Bookstores and their peeps

I loved all the characters and the narrator‘s of this story. The narrators did a fantastic job of bring the characters to life! A story about a fun group of people and a great friendship.

Friendships matter!

This was a pleasant surprise! I loved the friendship between all the characters the most. And when they all gathered to help a friend in need, I absolutely teared up. I also have a wonderful circle of people, so this resonated with me. it's cute and funny, and worth the quick listen.

Perfect audio romcom

Just finished and tempted to start it over from the beginning. Witty dialogue, believable book lovers, sweet community of friends, perfect production/audio quality. Lesser attempts, take note.

Fun, satisfying listen

Just the right amount of humor, angst, and ridiculousness to entertain. Some slice of life, chick lit when you don't want anything heavier 😀
