• Behind The Yearbook: CHRIS DE BURGH Talks "Robin Hood" and His Legacy
    Dec 5 2021
Contributor's Note:  Recently, legendary singer/songwriter Chris De Burgh released his 27th studio album entitled "The Legend of Robin Hood."  The album takes on his story and conceptualizes the injustices, circumstances and the life that Robin Hood lived and brings it to life for the listener.  The album was so well put together that a production company out of Germany is going to make it into a musical.

"The Legend of Robin Hood" was produced by Chris Porter and it takes the listener through an aural extravaganza through a wide variety of musical genres including Medieval, traditional, nursery rhymes, Celtic, folk, rock, classical and choral.  The album includes the single "Live Life, Live Well" along with a reimagination of one of de Burgh's crowd favorites entitled "Light a Fire."

Dr. Mark Dean chats with Chris de Burgh for Scholastic Perspectives to discuss this album along with his storied career as a singer/songwriter including his classic song "The Lady In Red."  Fans can find Chris de Burgh on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and his official website.

  • Season 2 Ep. 35: TRANSVIOLET'S Sarah McTaggart Gets Us Educated on "Drugs In California" and Vulnerability
    Oct 11 2021
Editor's Note:  Welcome to the rebranding of what is now Scholastic Perspectives!  The reason for the rebranding, to combine education, mental health and my love for the music business all under one umbrella.  I felt Madness To Creation was getting stagnant and I wasn't feeling it, now I'm feeling this and welcoming this change.  As educators and podcasters, or whatever it is we are doing in our craft, we need to adapt to change and sail with the winds of change instead of spitting against the winds of change.  I have on a friend of mine and quite honestly one of my favorite people in the biz in vocalist Sarah McTaggart of the amazing band Transviolet.  We talked about EVERYTHING in this podcast.  We talked about religion, talked about how she warms up her vocal cords and how she executes her lyrics and her songwriting, and how they opened for T-Pain! After all, he rhymed "mansion" with "Wisconsin." We talked about "Drugs In California" and how toxic relationships can be. The most amazing thing to me is I had such technical difficulties with my computer(Windows for you) and she was so patient with me, she somehow read my anxiety was going through the roof and she provided that grace and calming influence I needed to help me get through a mountain I made out of a molehill(Midwest expression for you).  This is evident when she opens up about the vulnerability and strength of how fans come up to her and how and why Transviolet became independent.  Fans can find Transviolet on Facebook, TikTok and Instagram and their official website.

Fans can check out a few remaining dates on the "Drugs In California" tour featuring Transviolet with Lorelei Marcell:

  • Season 2 Ep. 33: COWBOY MUGSHOT Talks Content Creation, TikTok & Mental Health
    Oct 5 2021
Editor's Note:  We brought on an artist that has gone viral on TikTok, mostly for his Taco Bell prank, but he's well on his way to becoming a viral sensation on TikTok and Instagram.  This artist is Cowboy Mugshot.  Cowboy Mugshot really opened up as we got going on the podcast, talking about his anxiety, to creating content and how image and his music worked hand-in-hand in his content creation on TikTok and Instagram, along with crazy stories growing up with a father, who happened to be a very famous record producer, and his singles and music videos for "Blow" and "Magazine."  I found Cowboy Mugshot to be such a gentle presence who is creating a larger than life persona.  Fans can find Cowboy Mugshot on his official website, TikTok and Instagram.
