  • 65. Alcohol Part 3- Adolescents
    Apr 23 2024
Alcohol Awareness Month Part 3! A significant number of adolescents use alcohol (15.1% in the last month in a survey of 12-20 year olds), 3 times the number who used tobacco products (5%) and 1.3X the number who used cannabis (11.8%). Youth tend to partake in binge drinking at higher rates, leading to significant acute health complications, accidents, and risky behavior. 20% of all high school students who consumed alcohol in the last month either drove after drinking or rode in a car driven by someone who had been drinking. Not only does alcohol result in these complications, but earlier alcohol use increases the risk of alcohol use disorder later in life. This episode will go through this data in more detail as well as review many other youth specific concerns regarding alcohol. You'll also get to hear how Heather and Josh's high school experiences varied in regard to alcohol!
