Publisher's Summary

It's a gorgeous autumn day in Georgetown. The Democratic candidates for president and vice-president of the United States are dutifully glad-handing voters and the media outside a grand estate where a national-security conference has just been held, bringing together the world's greatest minds to discuss the issues that are threatening the country. It's American politicking at its best. That's when all hell breaks loose.

When presidential candidate Josh Alexander's motorcade is ambushed by a group of terrorists, the nation is thrown into turmoil. Two weeks following the attack, Alexander is carried to victory by a sympathy vote, but his assailants have not been found. On the surface, it appears to be the work of al-Qaeda, and soon the FBI and the rest of the government begin scouring the world for jihadists. But then CIA Director Irene Kennedy and Special Agent Skip McMahon are presented with classified information so toxic that they consider destroying it altogether, as it contains intelligence pointing to some of the most powerful players in Washington.

Enter Mitch Rapp, the one man reckless enough to follow the evidence to its explosive conclusion. His journey takes him through the shadowy world of contract killers, into the darkest corners of the globe, and eventually back to Washington, where the fragile pillars of power are shaken to the core.

    "Too many swear words"
By Greg (Kaysville, UT, USA) Oct 28, 2008
I tried to get into this book but I couldn't make it even halfway before giving up because of all the profanity.

    "My first Flynn"
By Stevon (Tempe, AZ, United States) Nov 11, 2007
I've always liked spy thrillers but it seemed most I've been reading have written by European authors, mostly British. I'd been wanting to find a good American author to read, came across Vince Flynn and decided to give him a try. Was it the greatest book ever written? No. But, it was an enjoyable listen and I'll read him again, maybe my next listen. The action was fast paced and you wanted to keep listening to hear what was going to happen, isn't that what you want out of a book? It was entertaining!

    "Non-Stop Action with a Bang"
By Beth (Shelton, CT, United States) Oct 15, 2006
Act of Treason was easy to get into and fast became a listen that I couldn't put down.
Mitch Rapp, the Maverick CIA agent, catches the bad guy who blew up the motorcade of a Presidential candidate. The Politico's of the time want to try the bomber in the US court system. This is a glimpse into a world of, what if we let the Terrorists use our courts?
It's thought provoking with non-stop action which makes for a fun listen all the way.

    "Mitch Rapp does it again!"
By Frank (Rosemount, MN, USA) Feb 29, 2008
Mitch Rapp is the irreverant, politically incorrect protagonist who you love to see in action, but cringe when it happens. Another of Vince Flynn's fast moving, fly by the seat of your pants action novels. For a Vince Flynn/Mitch Rapp fan, its all you can ask for! Great fast read and well worth your time. If you look at the world through the commons sense, "whats wrong with doing it this way" attitude, then you will love this book. I found myself listening in the garage for a few minutes every time I had to get out of my car.

    "The best"
By Jesse (Norwalk, CT, USA) Nov 15, 2006
A complicated, easy to follow mystery read by one of my favorite guys. CIA, Secret Service and FBI all involved. Domestic and forign intrigue. Through the assinations, political bad guys, Swiss bankers and hired killers comes a tough, no nonsense, heavy from the CIA and away we go. A must read. It will intimidate you, then let you smile.

I love Mitch Rapp! Love the narrator and the writing style is so easy to follow. Can't go wrong with any of Flynn's books. All of his books are a must read!

    "Fun right wing listen"
By Catherine (Shoreline, WA, USA) Jan 22, 2008
This book is definitely not for us faint hearted lovers of civil liberties -- rights are invaded left and right, on the rationale that the hero is a hero and the bad guys don't deserve any rights anyway. Including rights not to be tortured. This is also not a book for those who think that bureaucratic infighting shouldn't be conducted with live weapons. Having said that, the book is well plotted and fun. It is the world as some law enforcement folks wish it could be. (Hard to believe that there are some who STILL think law enforcement on the federal level faces too many checks!)

    "Steeped in intrigue"
By Frank (Auburn, NH, USA) Nov 5, 2007
Another spy novel by Vince Flynn that is filled with intrigue. Mr Flynn does hhis home work and seems to either know or at least understands how to present the material so taht it is believable.

Sometimes he skirts the edges of morality in the action he has his characters take, even in the face or evil itself.

    Worth a read.

    "Fast-moving, very enjoyable read."
By Steve (Van Nuys, CA, USA) Oct 17, 2006
Maybe not quite as good as Flynn's last book, "Consent to Kill," which was one of my favorites.

The story was good, but it's Flynn's writing -- characters, dialogue & pacing -- that jump off the page. He totally holds your attention every minute, and you don't want to the book to end.

Reader was also excellent. To be accurate, I would give it 4.5 stars if it was allowed.
