    "This book was a waste"
By Richard (San Diego, CA, USA) Oct 3, 2007
The story was a bit hard to follow since it was writen in the british english style. However that was not really a problem it was just a little different and I appreciated the opportunity to increase my "british english" vocabulary. The vocabulary that I found ridiculous was the constant use of profanity. It was used so often that it took away from the story itself. It was profuse enough for me to stop listening after about an hour into the book. After going through about 120 audio books this particular book is the worst one that I have "read" to date and consequently a Not Recomend for me.

    "Graphic and tough"
By Marius (IreneSouth Africa) Oct 2, 2008
Most good espionage thrillers are written by Americans, and this might cause us to forget that the British pretty much invented the genre, with John Buchan, Graham Greene and Ian Fleming among the most prominent pioneers. Andy McNab is now a member of the club. His style might not suit all, being politically incorrect and saturated with profanity. His approach to violence is also overly graphic. Also, if you are not British, your ear will need to tune to the strong accents, but the narrator does an excellent job. McNab has a tight approach to plot, and there is an intelligence that pervades his writing, that will reward readers and listeners. The book starts slowly, and it requires something of an effort to get through the first couple of hours, but if you stay with it, the book will reward.

"Waiting for the Action to Start"
By Paula (Edina, MN, USA) Jun 24, 2006
Based upon the summaries of this book, I was expecting an action thriller in the same vein as Robert Ludlum. It turned out to have a much quieter, more narrative style without a decisive ending.

    "Not appealing"
By Jack (Clifton, VA, USA) Mar 5, 2008
I could not finish this novel. The storyline continuously dragged on about an outcast British agent caught up in an assassination of an American friend. This agent is dragging across the Eastern U.S. a frightened little girl who is the only survivor. I got tired of listening to the screams and panic attacks.

I also became very tired, and somewhat insulted, of all of the cheap shots at Americans. Someone should teach the narrator how to pronounce “Quantico”.

    "Loved it!"
By Dan (Oroville, CA, USA) Aug 31, 2006
Good book on it's own but even better lead into his next book "Last Light". McNab is a no fluf author and brings a lot of his life experience into his writing. I recommend following both books up with "Firewall", a personal favorite of mine. I only wish Audible would get the rest of McNab's work.

    "I loved it!"
By Michael (Milford, CT, USA) Jun 17, 2006
I thought this book was terrific. I found I simply could not stop listening to it. The story is well developed and the plot twists are very clever. The narrator has the perfect tone and accent for the main character, and makes listening all the more enjoyable.

    "disappointing"
By Barbra (Adamsville, AL, USA) Jun 16, 2006
I had a hard time finishing this book and when I did there was no real end. It just leaves most things hanging. If you need something to put you to sleep this is it.
