In this sharply funny solo debut, an aspiring lawyer is forced to work alongside the opposing counsel in her best friend’s divorce case, which leads to the biggest irreconcilable difference of all: love.

Beatrice Nilsson is what some might call “feisty” (those who love her) and others “combative” (those who don’t). But no matter what you call her, she’s a good lawyer and an even better friend. So when the marriage of her two closest pals ends in divorce, Bea picks a side and storms the office of attorney Nathan Asher to tell him exactly what he can do with his alimony petition. Unfortunately, what should end with a few choice words soon spirals into uncharted territory when Nate shows up at her NYU Law office a few days later as a newly-minted adjunct professor—and her new colleague.

Bea still hates Nathan, of course. But between weekly meetings and networking events, walks around Washington Square Park and late-night pizza, that hate begins to feel a lot like something else. And as uncomfortable truths emerge about the divorce that started it all, she might have to choose between her friends’ happily ever after and her own for the very first time.

This book had me rooting for a happy ending! I had a hard time with the FMC and found her chip on her shoulder exhausting at times.

Rooting for a happy ending!

The book was too rambling for me, the FMC had really nothing going for her for most of the book to redeem her behavior and the start of the romance still doesn't make sense to me and why would he bother to put up with her. as far as voice performance, all characters where great except the FMC herself, she was between borderline hysterical or sounded like someone smoked three packs a day.

The FMC was annoying

Listeners may be turned off at first with how strident the FC is and the narrator reflects this. Don’t give up - it is part of her story. I thought character development was good and relationship grew realistically. Good balance of spice and story. The concerns of the FC about MC’s actions as a lawyer made no sense since as a lawyer she should have been more understanding.

I liked the lawyers on love story

I tried to like this book after I bought it I really did. B was the most annoying character I could ever listen to. I stuck with it only for the fact that I paid for it, but it was a pure, disappointing, annoying aggravating listen.

Annoyance at its best!

I read A LOT of books and this one is- by far- one of the worst ones I’ve read in a long time. The main character is simply awful- seems to have no redeeming qualities.

Stop being so awful
