As always, the inconsistencies drive me bananas. In the first book of the collection, Ms Kappes rewrote another character’s history, now making Hank a former FBI agent. It would be so easy to keep track of details like that, but the author doesn’t bother.

And yet, I return to the series because I like the characters. I tried some of her other works, but found them wanting. These are nice to listen to while I do other things because a good portion of them consists of repetition (which is why I notice the inconsistencies). You don’t have to pay close attention. Sometimes she even surprises you with the perp (but not often).

It’s the relationships

“What is there to not like?” is the better question. These stories are interesting, engaging and entertaining. So far, I’ve listened to 24 of these books and want to listen to them all. My only complaint is that the books are too short! Every time I listen to one, I want to start another. Fun!
They make me want to run out, buy a camper and hit the road!
