Bloody but epic adventure

While Spock battles down below with future allies Kirk is above fighting a different and powerful battle. Enjoyed this book as well for having more enlisted characters and exploring the arc that comes with it.

A little violent but I think the backstory justifies it though the carnage that ensues is pretty harsh however the different characters acknowledging this kept me in the trek mode and overall is was a very enjoyable story.

great book. great narration.

I really enjoyed this book. David Mack does a great job of making the original series feel like the future and not the sixties. Robert Petkoff always knocks the characters out of the park. Highly recommended.

Just what I was looking for

Great performance, not distracting at all, and kept you in the story.

Loved the story (Thanks David Mack)

An entertaining book.

I greatly enjoyed this book. It was well written and entertaining. The story was interesting and I especially liked the Klingons. They are quite a wild bunch.

Great Book

This book is great fun adventure! Harkens back to the 90s Star Trek Books! Especially enjoyed having the Klingons back in an Adventure!

this is a very good, but very violent story

This book is extremely well written-- lots of intensity, lots of depth, but holy cow is it violent. It's very explicit about gore, fighting, etc., and doesn't shy away about the horrors of war. It's horrifying in a way that's intentional. If you like a war story, you'll like this. If not, avoid this one'

Excellent! Might be my new favorite.

Be patient. It starts a little slow but then becomes intense and riveting. I only wish Kirk was a bit more involved. Still, it was a great story and the antagonist is terrifying. I love Robert Petkoff's narrations and, as always, he does a terrific job. I highly recommend this one, though I'm a Star Trek junkie so I may be a little impartial.

GOOD STAR TREK STORY!

I was a little iffy in the beginning, as the start was slow. Still, good story that could've been better in the end. For example, key characters involved deserved to have their sacrifices better recognized at the end of the story. The tale lacked a good Spock and McCoy argument, too! Not bad, though - Nice tie-in with The Doomsday Machine and Commodore Decker's death.

GRADE: B+

Always Good

Narrated well. Written excellently, as always, by David Mack. I haven't finished it yet, but it's a great continuation of the Vanguard series.

Not ST

This may be labeled a trek book but it is closer to a first person shooter video game novelization.
Disappointing , lazy effort by David Mack
Petkoff was the only saving grace in this gory overly violent and bloody mess, that capitalized on the familiarity of the TOS universe
