Publisher's summary

Forced behind enemy lines. Ready to do battle with slavers, spiders, and ghosts.

Say hello to the new and improved Clyde Hatchett...who's only a level-four nothing.

He's on a (seemingly never-ending) quest to get back to his life in Glaton. And now, all that stands in his way are the Empire-hating Carchedonians, a death cult, and a traitorous party member. Oh, and a mythical city that very probably doesn't exist.

Prepare to be blown out of the water on this cutthroat journey through the darkest corners of Vuldranni. Clyde has reached the end of his known world. And that's where the adventure begins.

Good, but

Really love both The Good Guys and The Bad Guys. The only issue I had with this book is that we still get no resolution to the main story. A single book, maybe 2 at most of this giant side quest would have been palatable, but it looks like we are gonna get another side quest in the following book of this series.

We started with Clyde Hatchett in Glaton, building a guild and an entire life within the city. Now Clyde Hatchet is sailing the oceans for several books in a row, with almost no one from his original crew. I miss our other characters. I miss the weird, awkward love story that was developing.

As always, I love this author and his books, just looking forward to getting out of the ocean and back to Glaton to continue the main storyline.

great books, keep them coming! A bit short though

the bad guy (& good guy) serious are Witty, funny, and top notch. I love the story and characters and the performance is stellar. I laugh out loud several times throughout the story and we'll definitely keep coming back.
it would be great to have a bit more length to each book, this one in particular was 1 to 2 hours less than previous books, although still amazing books, as I've listening to this series twice, and will likely repeat again in the future.

highly recommended for lit rpg series!! Great work guys!

Good but flawed

I enjoy the bad guys series. However, between this book and the previous I feel like we are getting filler. Some filler is fine, but honestly both books could have been combined into one. Hopefully the next book finally has some actual progress. Also, some of the characters are starting to wear on me and hopefully will go away in a book or two. I’m ready for some of the original characters to come back.

more of a sidequest

This was definitely a side quest, no real progression, but I like the world and am still interested in seeing where he takes us with good guys and bad guys

Great series

I love Eric Ugland’s work, I realize that many of these books are more side questy than substantive but that’s what gives them their charm. Keep them coming please.

An enjoyable filler book

Eric Ugland writes another enjoyable addition to The Bad Guys series and while there was not a lot of forward movement in the story arc, the adventures along the way more than made up for it. There were betrayals and, seemingly, no allies even with the non-Carchedonian lands. The whole quest involving the Crystal of the Sea seemed more Deus Ex Machina than meaningful to the story but, still, an interesting interlude.

Neil Hellegers performance continues to provide an entertaining recital.
