Publisher's summary

Human, or elf?

A normal person, or an elven heiress?

Aella thinks she's leading a normal life in LA, making ends meet as a waitress. Until she finds something she wasn't meant to: A dragon's egg.

Now on the run from secret government agents and protecting the vulnerable hatchling, Aella finds there's more to her past and her parents than there seemed.

With nowhere to turn, Aella gets help in the unlikeliest of places and has her eyes opened to a secret world of mythical races and creatures living hidden among the humans of the world.

Can she find a place for herself and her dragon? Or is she bringing danger to everyone she meets?

a good fun story

Story is fun, An urban Fantasy version of Eragon or How to Tame Your Dragon. there were a few word or phrase choices that were not things normally said by someone In the U.S. (a middle to lower class person from L.A. more so) such as referring to trash/garbage as rubbish, for example. this sometimes would take me out of the story. Overall it is a fun story, And I look forward to the next one and seeing how the world and characters develop. there is so much room for this world to grow, I am excited to see it. I assume this being the first book that the others only can get better and better. The audiobook narrator also kept my attention and did a Good job at differentiating important characters.

Unacceptable

A good fantasy story makes the reader believe it’s possible even though we all know it’s not. And there’s a difference between an unexplained situation that leads to mystery and an unexplained situation that causes disjointed disbelief. Without providing any spoilers, I just couldn’t accept the story as a possibility. I had to force myself to finish the book and will not pursue the series.
