Publisher's summary

After almost a year since Regan came to the world Murgin, danger has followed him like a loyal dog. Threats are the main theme of his life as a dungeon core, and every time he deals with one, another appears to take its place. Now with the struggles of the Beneath Races, as well as the mysterious peril coming from space, he might not have time to solve all his current problems before one of them blows up in his face. He is not without any recourse, though, and he has a plan to meet the dangers. The question is will he be able to succeed?

Louella has more power than ever before, but a part of her is worried that it will not be enough to protect the people she loves and cares for in Vaihdetta. That does not stop her from working to make sure her people are happy and protected. Even if it means descending into the horror and war-torn Beneath. She has a mission, and she is determined that to fulfill it.

Possible spoilers for future books bellow.

I think the new female voice actor is great and is able to convey emotions better than the last one. Love that this series seems to be hinting towards a good Regan vs. bad Regan showdown. Would love to see how the characters react to their Dungeon Annihilation counterparts. I'm guessing that the bet between Creation and Destruction is which Regan will win.

voice actor does not fit the characters at all

why is eva kaminsky not the voice actor anymore?? she was so good and fit the characters really well, but sierra Klines voice doesn't fit the characters very well and she seems very monotone and most of the voices for different characters sound the same

the female voice actor

The female voice actor had no range in her different voices, it all sounded the same. I did not like it at all, she was quite irritating. It's made me not want to finish the series.

Female voice actor falls flat

The The female voice actor seems to have no emotional rain it’s still a good story but it seems somewhat less well delivered than the previous box

Been waiting for the next book

Took a long time for this book to come out, and it seems that one of the narrators changed. I didn't actually notice it though and felt she kept the voices pretty close to the previous narrator, however I haven't listened to the previous book in a few months so if you are burning through books I'd recommend you take a break before this one if such changes bother you overly much.

It also explains why it took so long to come out, as usually when there is a narrator change it is due to the author trying to keep the same narrator but for one reason or another it doesn't happen.

That said I really enjoyed this book, and will definitely be buying the next one.

Good story. Meh narration

Story was good. Gabriel Vaughan is once again over the top in his narration. Like everything is so dramatic. Sierra Kline was pretty good just a bit quiet and subdued. Sad that this book changed from Eva Kaminsky. She was really good voice actress. She could do the whole book by herself and the narration would get a 5 star.

Dear Sierra

Please read louder. In somewhat noisy conditions your reading is very hard to understand.

what happened to the voice?

Gabriel Vaughan has delivered on his end once again. however Sierra Kline's performance has guaranteed i will not be picking up the rest of the series if she is narrating. i dont know if it was Matthews decision to use her or Tantor audio but they did not what so ever check for quality. her voice was grating on my ears and very annoying. she didnt keep the voices consistent from one chapter to the next and the audio quality was rubbish. i honestly dont understand why they dont have Mr. Vaughan voice the entire book. i will not be grabbing the next one if Kline is still involved. i will also state i really cant be bothered to write reviews so the fact i feel inclined to speaks loudly. other than that though the story is still good so i suppose if she doesny bother your ears as it did mine its still worth picking up. i will say in her defense it might just be a recording issue there is a jarring difference from Vaughan to Kline.

quality and length concerns

For a series I've given 5stars to for previous audible releases, this one caused some concern

PROS: The story continues to deliver as does Gabriel Vaughan - when I read the kindle version I read with his voice now (you're in my head!)
CONS: (1) for the first time ever in this series of audible releases, I fast forwarded past a number of Louella's parts. Not only is the change jarring and there's little range in the new narrator, but it's so close to whispering it felt both like a late night call-in commercial as well as a character with no gravitas, which has become critical for many of Louella's current plotlines. Luckily since I read the kindle versions when they come out and listen to the audible versions when they are later released, I could skip the Louella sections in this book without missing parts of the story, but it was still sad to see the change in quality.
(2) the story felt oddly short and rushed but this is something I've been noticing with the last couple books in the series; I'm not sure what it is but I may be expecting more than 7-8 hours for an audible purchase given what else is available with comparable quality

I'll likely keep purchasing new releases in the series, but hopefully some of the missteps in this most recent release are just anomalies.
