Publisher's summary

She was my first love.

She was my everything.

We were college sweethearts, the All-American couple.

Until the big time came calling.

Misunderstandings and miscommunications lead to broken hearts and broken trust.

But fate throws me a second chance when our paths cross again.

Now Poppy has to decide if she's ready to take another try at forever with me, or if the past is better left behind us.

I know this is my final down. My last opportunity to make it right, but Poppy's going to need a little more convincing.

Throwing out a Hail Mary, I'll give it all I've got.

With a little luck, this time I may just be able to score.

Contains mature themes.

I liked Poppy!!

I was new to this author and gave it a shot but the story is not that original. College sweethearts, boyfriend Keir goes pro in football and forgets about his girlfriend Poppy. She is heartbroken and leaves town after she finishes college because of the negativity but they see each other again at an auction 10 years later back where it started.
After a few chapters, I really started to like Poppy and her sassiness. I thought Amy Bentley really pulled off that Savannah, Georgia accent way better than Alex.
Don't get me wrong, I actually selected this book because of Alex Kydd (he was so damn good in Gus), but his narration of a southerner didn't work for me. He spoke really slow too.
I also liked Poppy's BFF Elle., she was funny.
I thought the females narration was better at times.
The book didn't give me the usual feels I like, but I got thru it ok.

Could barely make it through

I had to force myself to listen to this book. I felt that the story was gonna be good (not completely accurate) so I forced myself to listen to the God awful narration. I have heard Alex before so I was very disappointed with the “southern” accents in this book. Turns out the story was just kinda meh.. I didn’t like the female character at all. The male was sweet although he was portrayed as the one the “messed up” when in reality it was a misunderstanding that went off the rails. All around I felt this story was just lacking in several departments. The epilogue was the best part of the story. Not worth my credit and I’m definitely gonna return this one.
