Publisher's summary

When Felix lands a job taking care of a man recovering from severe injuries, he thinks his life may have just turned around. Anything has to be better than the place he's leaving. There's something about Lane that draws Felix to him and makes him question if this place could finally become a home for him. But when someone begins stalking Felix, he is left to question who Lane is and what actually happened to him.

Together, Felix and Lane will be forced to see just how far they will go to protect each other. Being chased by cops, kidnapping a man, and breaking into a drug operation seems to be his normal since arriving in Lane's life. Felix may be out of his element, but one thing he is sure about is that he doesn't want to leave, even if it costs him his life.

Editing audio could be better

Joel did a pretty good job performing, but the pauses were annoying.... "he said." Fun story, though. Good job, Alice. Thanks for the entertainment.

Action, Humor, and Love

This book had it all – humor, action, drama, love, sex, and snark…oh my, the snark! Felix is snarky and cute with a stubborn streak a mile wide. Which is good, he needs all the stubbornness and determination he can muster to go up against the pigheadedness of Lane, the newly blind cop. Felix is hired to be Lane’s caretaker, but Lane wants nothing to do with him. Felix, however, is not about to lose a good paying job just because his client is mad at the world and wants to sulk alone. Through sheer determination, and a quick-witted quips, Felix manages to build a relationship with Lane that soon turns physical and then romantic. While Felix and Lane are busy falling in love, they soon find that despite Lane being injured and blind, he is still not out of danger.

The story is fast paced and hilarious. This humor may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I drank it up greedily. There was a few aspects of the plot and action scenes that may not have been realistic, but that was okay. This book was not about being realistic and was all about being fun and entertaining.

Narration: Joel Leslie does a wonderful job bringing Felix and Lane alive and I found myself laughing out loud in the car as I listened to the book.

Overall Rating: 5 Stars. I really enjoyed Alice Winter’s writing. She has a fun, easy style that flows very well. I also love her humor and creativity. The plot was interesting and the characters were fantastic. I highly recommend this book.

Great

I've seen lots of ppl give amazing reviews about this series, so I picked it up on sale without much hesitation

First, yes this first book I loved. Was it as funny as ppl said? No, not to me. But everyone has has their own opinion.
However, the story was engaging. I found Felix and Lane as well as the other characters intriguing. The plot was interesting and kept me entertained throughout.
I can't wait to Que up the next one in the series

Joel Leslie did a wonderful job with the narration of all the characters.

Definitely worth it

This made me laugh out loud multiple times and the people at my work thought I was crazy. Worth it. The snark is so ok point, which is a given with Alice Winters. I wasn’t sure about the narrator at first, but he grew on me and by the end I was fully on board. I will be getting the next book in the series no question.

Hidden In Darkness

I liked the book and Joel’s performance although I got used to hearing his narrations of Louisa Masters’ CSG/DEA etc. book series so it was a tad jarring the way Joel paused between saying a sentence and then stating who said it (or the rest of the paragraph). Other than that I really enjoyed it and highly recommend.

Funny and interesting story

First thing to be mentioned is narration by Joel Leslie. He is so great,he changes his voice so good that sometimes I forget that there is only one narrator. He brings characters to life, that I can really relate to them.
I also liked the story, especially humor between Felix and Lane and how they poke each other. Looking forward to books 2&3.

You will choke from laughing so much

Wow. Never read anything from this author before, but Joel Leslie is my FAVORITE narrator, so I thought I'd give this a try. Frankly, he could probably read the phone book and make it interesting.

The snark between Felix and Lane is laugh-out-loud hilarious. I don't mean that in a facetious way; I literally had to stop eating or drinking anything for risk of choking. It's good dialog brought to life by a talented narrator. There is humor, action, mystery and slow-burning romance. This duo will be an instant-purchase for me.

Humor with a side of action!

I absolutely LOVED this audio! Lane is blind and needs someone to help him get around, although he doesn’t think he does. Felix needs a job and he’s the perfect match for Lane. Lane is a former detective. His last undercover mission ended very badly. And there are people who are still after him. He doesn’t want anyone to get close to him. But Felix gets under his skin. Felix doesn’t take crap from Lane. He’s feisty and very stubborn. Felix is sick of being alone. His family is awful and he wants nothing to do with them. Lane tries to push him away but Felix isn’t ready to give up. There is so much that happens in this book! I don’t want to give away any spoilers but there is action and so much humor. Felix is perfect for Lane. Felix pushes Lane not to let his blindness stop him from living. And Lane liked to tease Felix about his size. The two of them are hilarious! Joel Leslie’s narration of this book is spot on. I can’t imagine anyone narrating this!

A Little Over the Top

Joel Leslie's narration was a total joy. Alice Winters' story is full of snark and laugh out loud moments, but the actions and events became a bit unbelievable. Despite a blind man performing fetes of superhero status, the book, as narrated by Joel Leslie, was entertaining and fun. Suspend your logic and enjoy.
