Publisher's summary

This inspirational memoir, told with uncensored Southern wit and guidance, recounts the story of a Hollywood film executive who journeys through the cosmic wilderness and, against all odds, discovers psychic superpowers that radically transform her life.

As a senior executive at one of the world’s largest movie studios, Julie Rieger spent her days marketing the imaginary stories of ghosts, faeries, superheroes, aliens, and more fantastical creatures. But after the devastating loss of her mother, the world of make-believe became reality when Julie captured her first ghost in a photograph and blew open a door to the Other Side.

The Ghost Photographer chronicles Julie’s wild ride down the spiritual rabbit hole. After a series of unexpected, mind-blowing, and sometimes frightening encounters with the spirit realm, Julie was forced to face this strange awakening, flying in the face of scientific dogma and her own die-hard skepticism. Ultimately, she discovered that what she thought she had lost with the death of her mother - unconditional love - was in fact the greatest superpower one can wield.

In a refreshing departure from traditional supernatural tales, Julie tells her story with bold humor and total candor. Her journey juxtaposes her down-home roots in rural America with the glam of Hollywood and her professional universe of hard, empirical data. As she fine-tunes her psychic abilities and comes to terms with the transformative power of grief, Julie is empowered to fearlessly tell her story, teach others, and invite them to share their own experiences of the paranormal and unexplained. She offers insights into our relationship with the spirit world, prayers and rituals for cleansing and protecting our homes from unwanted ghosts, and guidance on how to develop our intuition and sixth sense.

RAW & Down to earth truth of the unknown!

The title may throw you off as it did me, because It goes WAY deeper than a ghost photographer. AMAZING story of Julie's life will make you NOT want to "put this book down". She is raw & southern. I am form Texas so I LOVE it. Way to go Ms. Julie! I would love to see more books of your experiences. Myself, having slight psychic "powers", would love to be trained to harness my gifts. Seems you learned from the right people to guided you in the path of light. If you are ever in Houston,(Sugar Land) Look me up! ---- Want a great book about ghost, spirits, loved ones, animals, spirit guides??? Buy this book! The audio reading is fantastic. - Keith Marrero

Eye Opening

First book purchased thanks to Mysterious Universe podcast (perhaps that means something in regards to the direction of my personal journey). Story was crazy enough to be entertaining but believable at the same time. The humor was great, it offset the emotional moments that really hit hard. The order in which the topics were presented worked well, easy to see how gifts/skills progressed. How To/Safety section, great idea! Author's experience makes us reexamine those "wait a minute" moments in our life we dismiss on a daily basis and stay open to the possibility of "signs." Loved it!

What a beautiful book...loved hearing Julie’s voice!

I had the privilege of working with Julie, she is truly an amazing woman. Hearing her read these words, her words, was truly delightful.

Julie is completely frank, raw, and honest about her life. And her journey took her into the realm where spirits live. She made me want to go “there”, too. The Audible version was a six hour “listen” ... I was able to listen in a single sitting with one bio-break. I have just purchased the hard cover book...I want to scratch through it to find and better understand how I might find some spirits of my own. I absolutely related to this book. I found that we have some real life similarities. I, too, lost my mother to severe dementia. My mom, Marjie, was clearly the most influential woman in my life.
She’s been gone for over a decade and I am still not over it. Listening to Julie reading her words about her mom, her champion, had a journey with Alzheimer’s disease. Her candor grabbed my soul. I am certain that there are ghosts in my house. I’ve not had the courage to face them...but Julie’s book gave me the strength. This book was a true catharsis for me. Thank you, Julie.

Journey of Discovery

If I had to summarize the Ghost Photographer I would say “It is a gripping story of the accounts of a successful Hollywood powerhouse and her experiences with the spiritual forces that stretch beyond our own world.”

With a summary like that I couldn’t help but stay engaged as I read on and felt like I was feeling the experiences just as the author had. The Ghost Photographer is one of those books that will catch your attention by its name and then keep you reading with your curiosity buzzing. Julie does a wonderful job walking you through the events that she herself went through and broadening your mindset of just how vast the spiritual world can be. Prepare yourself to be sparked with questions that will ultimately keep you reading as you uncover just what it means to be a Ghost Photographer.

As one Photographer to another

I purchased Ghost Photographer a few days ago, via Audible.com, and I'm happy to say that this is my second time listening to it through.

Definitely a book you should add to your private library collection!

Julie has written a comprehensive book on the nature of the Paranormal, and our relationship with it. The Unseen, the fantastical, and sometimes even the spiritually malevolent. Julie guides you on her journey and experiences with the unknown, and how she came to forging her understanding and mastery of it. This book is one part biography, and one part practical guide. Whether it's photography or personal experience, her words are truly a service to us all.

To the writer: I too have had loved ones like Mona in my life. I'm very lucky enough to have found teachers among them. Thank you for writing this book and making me, and of us all us, feel that we're not alone, or crazy. To you, my teacher, thank you. A'ho.
