Publisher's summary

Even as a young girl, Jill was a favorite of the magical, mysterious Wildfolk, who appeared to her from their invisible realm. Little did she know her extraordinary friends represented but a glimpse of a forgotten past and a fateful future. Four hundred years - and many lifetimes ago - one selfish young lord caused the death of two innocent lovers. Then and there he vowed never to rest until he'd righted that wrong - and laid the foundation for the lives of Jill and all those whom she would hold dear: her father, the mercenary soldier Cullyn; the exiled berserker Rhodry Maelwaedd; and the ancient and powerful herbman Nevyn, all bound in a struggle against darkness...and a quest to fulfill the destinies determined centuries ago.

Here in this newly revised edition is the incredible novel that began one of the best-loved fantasy series in recent years - a tale of bold adventure and timeless love, perilous battle, and pure magic. For long-standing fans of Deverry and those who have yet to experience this exciting series, Daggerspell is a rare and special treat.

waited years for this.

quality narration for one of my favorite older books. I certainly pronounced a few of those words differently I. my head when I read these years ago.

don't let the twisty timeline and unfamiliar terms scare you away.

One of my most favorite series in fantasy.

I hope they do the entire series! This series has everything you look for in terms of good and bad politics, war, and magic!

loved it

I read this book years ago when I was a teenager. I fell in love with the story and the series. it nice getting to listen to it again while I'm at work or driving home. The narrator does a great job and has many voices for the different characters. I can't wait for the next one to come out! :-)

Working out your Karma

Great start to a great series. Love the transitions between past and current time and seeing how fates intertwine and issues from previous lives are resolved.

Marvelous performance by Ms. Urquhart

I'm so happy that I discovered this book and to find that it is also a lengthy series. the writing is excellent and the concepts are such that I've never found in a fantasy story before. some of which is Celtic and some is not but it is a fascinating story nonetheless.

also is a fan of the indie film Unicorn City I enjoyed discovering references in this book that were mentioned in the film (without credit).

quality fantasy leaves you hooked

Great story and narration. The world & characters are ace. Addictive listen. I spend through this and can't wait to listen to the next one. Katherine's story isn't just 'womens fantasy'. The characters and sorry are for everyone.

All I Had Ever Hoped For!

This was my first foray into fiction audiobooks. This was also a book I've read a dozen times. The narration is excellent, and captures the dialect and accents that Kerr describes in her foreword to each Deverry novel with true storytelling grace. It made me feel like I did when I was a kid, and my mother would read her books to me. I was captivated.

When I completed the book I felt like it had ended too soon. I wanted more, and I am happy that Darkspell is out now! May the whole Deverry Cycle come to this format.
