Publisher's summary

It's the dead of night; you are fast asleep. Suddenly, you are wide awake but unable to move. Hunched over you in the shadows is an eight- or nine-foot-tall gaunt entity with spider-thin limbs, dressed in an old-style black suit, its pale face missing eyes, nose, ears, and mouth. You finally manage to cry out. The monstrous thing disappears as suddenly as it appeared.

You just had a terrifying encounter with the Slenderman.

Who - or what - is the Slenderman? His existence began on the Internet, but he didn't stay online. The Slenderman may be a tulpa, a thought-form that can stride out of our darkest imaginations and into reality if enough people believe in it. In May 2014, two young Milwaukee girls almost killed a friend in the name of the Slenderman. Perhaps, like the vast Skynet system in the Terminator movies, the Internet is turning against us - and attacking us with digital equivalents of our own online nightmares.

The Slenderman has come to life. For the first time, this book reveals the full and fear-filled saga.

A Slenderman classic!!!

I have to admit that I have loved the works of Nick Redfern since he wrote for the "Fortean Times." I am not sure that Mr. Redfern is the greatest writer in the world, but, damn, is he entertaining. He also chooses great subject matter, and this book is no different. One of the disappointments with putting some of Redfern's books on audible in the past has been that the narrators chosen have not always been very good nor have the production values been very high. Thankfully, the narration is better here, and Nick's exploration of the Slenderman Mysteries is absolutely intriguing. Redfern, like other Fortean types (such as myself), walks that wonderful line between I can't disprove it or prove it, but I am not going to shy away from exploring it. Forteans also seem to have a terrific sense of humor, unlike those dull, unimaginative, and humorless "Skeptical Inquirer" types. (You know who you are!) Fortunately, Redfern knows a good story when he sees it, and he accomplishes that well here. This book will, ultimately, raise more questions than it answers, but it certainly explores most of the relevant theories involved. Just be careful though, it appears that the Slenderman knows when you are thinking or talking about him, so please listen with caution; otherwise, you may be paid an unwanted visit!

Love Nick Redfern

I love Nick Redfern, but struggled to listen through. The stories are interesting but I had to keep rewinding and listening again in parts.

Great work !

I don’t know why some people complain about this book and it’s narrator. It’s great work. I was spellbound and I listen to and read a lot about the paranormal. Nick Redfern is great!

Great book :)

I really enjoyed this, the narration was lovely and the contents engaging. :) I have been interested in the Slenderman for a while now and this has given me a lot of information and fascinating stories not just about him, but mythology, history and other things connected to him. :)

Redfern's Slenderman Speculation Is Fascinating

This audiobook is a work of art. Slenderman may have started off as fiction, but if nothing else, he is now one of the most fascinating monsters ever to lurk in our collective psyche thanks to the fertile pen of Mr. Redfern. Learn about tulpas, one of the most intriguing paranormal concepts I've ever come across. Is there really some Lovecraftian manifestation of multiple shared nightmares out there? Might it be hiding somewhere in your vicinity at the very moment you're reading this? Play this in the dark of night and you'll be afraid to glance about the shadows of your domicile. Perfect narration. Masterpiece.

Legion becomes a reality

What we see, think about can become real. Our children are more in sink with connecting with these altered realities than we are. This book shows several true examples of these connections.

an interesting look

An interesting look at the intersection of traditional folklore, urban legend, and internet creepypasta. redfern drawers some intriguing parallels between the image of the internet phenomenon Slenderman and other boogie men characters throughout history.

Complete & Exhaustive Coverage of the Phenomenon

This was another extensively researched book by author Nick Redfern. Considering that the subject was a fictional creation, a wide variety of similarities to other creatures and real world encounters that are frightening have happened. He explores a number of topics from other examples from history, encounters here and abroad and far more things than you would expect are covered here. Everything and nearly anything relating to the Slender man is here. I read this book using immersion reading while listening to the audiobook. Narrator Shaun Grindell does a great job describing all the strange details. A must for cryptid fans.

What was that

This boo was long winded. I did not enjoy the narrator. The whole lore could have been more explained and more fluid. I tried to listen to this book a second time and I just could not make it through a second time.

read it if you must LOL

LOL this book is kinda bad, but it at least got me conversant on The Slenderman. I don't really recommend this unless you have run out of great horror fiction to read and you are in October and have pledged to read only horror during that month like I do.
