Yes, it says "101." But it's not like a 101 course in college. It's more like a coffee table book with interesting vignettes and factoids. There is some good information about how weather works (which is what I wanted), but there's also a lot of filler: stories about past storms, advice on how to prepare for a hurricane, tips for getting a job as a meteorologist, etc. Good info, I suppose, but not what I was wanting to learn. Still, it's told with humor and is a good solid three stars.

Chapter on polar vortex claimed Whiteface Mt in the Adirondacks recorded a temperature of -114 degrees. No mention of wind chill. Coldest temp ever recorded according to Google on that mountain is -40 degrees.
