Publisher's summary

Acting Sheriff Ben Logan hasn't heard from Leigh Somerall in a very long time, but it doesn't mean he can get her - or their whirlwind romance of 10 years ago - out of his head. When she calls out of the blue, it is with a strange request to protect her brother, Tony. When Tony dies just days later, Ben is charged with a different task - protecting Leigh and her nine-year-old son, TJ, from the killers. But how can Ben keep an eye on Leigh if she's doing everything in her power to avoid him? And could the secret that Leigh is keeping change Ben's life forever? Suspense, intrigue, and a touch of romance make A Promise to Protect perfect for listeners who like their stories with a hearty dose of mystery.

One minus, still recommend

This was a great book - the plot was well thought out and captivating, the performance by the narrator was good. My most favorite part of the story was the relationship between Ben, Leigh and their son TJ (well for over half of the book Ben has no idea TJ was his). So, my issue is with Leigh's attitude while they were staying with Ben's parents. I understand her wanting to leave before anyone found out, however, I felt she was borderline rude, even toward her son. Even the narrator gave her a snotty voice during those moments. I'm sorry, it's just that rudeness is a pet-peeve of mine.

Horrible Narration

Living in the southeast, I know a lot of people form Missippi and they can all pronounce their T's. Horrible narration. Great Story.

great book worth the price

great mystery .. I feel it was well worth the price. it kept my attention wondering if they would live or die...wondering who the bad guy(s) were and just how book would end. wish they would allow me to buy the next book in the series..I would buy it even if it has not been released yet.... that is how much I enjoyed this book. good clean read. highly recommend.

overall good, but...

I'm used to Patricia Bradley doing a little bit more accurate research for her books and keeping her fact a little straighter. The book was great and the Christopher good, but it's hard to listen to grammatical errors and Inwish she knew that "AR" does not stand for assault or automatic rifle!!!

It is a very good book well read and I’m the better for reading it

This book has a good plot and you don’t know who done it until the end. Usually I can figure it out but this did good.

Good suspense.

I was sure I knew who the villain was but I was wrong. Patricia Bradley’s writing improves with every book

Unsympathetic “heroine” character

Leigh Somerall is the simply the worst heroine. I so wanted to like this book, but could muster zero empathy for this character. She lies with little to no remorse, is at times downright rude to those that are treating her kindly, and doesn’t learn from her mistakes. I did finish the book hoping it would get better and to try to get the value for my dollar. It doesn’t get better. :( The narrator is excellent, but there’s not much else I can say that’s positive about it.
