Ever since her first ghostly sighting, Abby Kimball has been trying to unravel the mystery of her newly discovered ability. So when she sees the apparition of a Revolutionary War soldier in the middle of the town green - just days before the annual Patriot's Day celebration, no less - she's determined to figure out her connection to the man. The ethereal soldier is not the only mystery in Abby's life. She's also trying to sort out her connection to Ned Newhall, the man who shares her ability and is playing a more serious romantic role in her life every day. But with plans for the celebration ramping up and her job becoming more chaotic by the minute, Abby's finding it hard to catch her breath, much less come to grips with all the new turns her life has taken. And when another eerie episode is followed by the appearance of a very curious young girl who seems wise beyond her years, Abby discovers she and Ned may have only scratched the surface of their special ability, and that Ned may hold the biggest surprise yet.

But sometimes Abby is a little ridiculous when she gets angry. She got angry cuz Ned didn’t tell her he was rich. SO WHAT! They were in a pretty new relationship and not everyone is comfortable talking about money. There were a couple other things too.
But on a whole, its an enjoyable storyline.

Still enjoying this series…..

Living in the New England you are flooded with rich history of our nation. I love those tidbits in this book. Abby is whinny sometimes and acts like a petulant teenager. Aww you didn’t tell me you were rich, get out, really? It’s great she wants to be her own woman, which is admirable, but everyone can use a leg up once in a while. Overall great book and on to book 3. Please let Abby not grate on my nerves.

Great story with interesting historical features

The story drug out a little in the beginning and she had a couple episodes of whining and being a brat. But suddenly she started acting like a mature, educated 25 year old woman, reacting appropriately. Turned out to be a very good book.

The genealogy aspect is great also.

love this story

I really liked the first book it started the story off with a good base but this just flopped. Abby is frustrating as a character and comes across as judgy weak. She spends so much time going on about being independent but never actually follows through with any of it. The story doesn’t actually gain ground it just moves laterally and there is nothing to make me want to find out what happens next.
I felt there was A LOT of redundancy in that there would be a conversation or situation once that was over the next 5 minutes was Abby rehashing the whole thing in her head. We literally just went through this we don’t need to hear it again immediately. Seriously 1/3
of the book could be dropped if you got rid of the redundant internal monologue.
The historical aspect was the best part but even that didn’t move the story ahead any. I really wanted this to be a good series and it start off so well I won’t use my credits on the rest.

All that said the performance was great and I’d definitely listen to more books read by her

Disappointed and frustrating

Ms Connolly has a unique talent for writing interesting books. I like the characters she describes. Some, like Brad, you want to shake and tell to grow up 😉. Not sure author will continue this series, it could really be interesting

Always enjoyable
