Publisher's summary

Spring has come to Ireland, where Thorgrim Night Wolf, new-made Lord of Vík-ló, and the 300 Viking warriors under his command have suffered through a brutal winter. Despite having accomplished much during the months of cold and rain, the patience of the men has worn thin, and anger and frustration threaten to tear the ships' crews apart. But just as the men are turning on one another, a local Irish lord arrives with a proposal, a plan for Irish and Norse to join together in a raid using Ireland's rivers to float their longships far inland.

The plan, however, soon turns into a nightmare of massacre and betrayal, and Thorgrim and his band must fight both the skilled commander of the local forces as well as enemies in their own camp. It's a fight in which victory or defeat will mean the difference between riches and death.

I'm hooked

It's been quite some time since I've enjoyed a series of books as much as I'm enjoying these. Mr. Nelson...Well done! Louis L'Amour would be a true fan of your work, as am I. Thank You sir for this tale. Please continue to share Thorgrim and Company's adventure.

Great story and the narration is spot on

I love this genre and no one does Vikings better than Nelson. I am listening to this story after reading it about five years ago. I’ve read them all but am listening to them now to refresh the story before diving into reading the Narrow Seas.

COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN.

Audible has this whole 10 volumes of the Viking series by James L. Nelson. I've read them all once and started again on the whole series. VERY ENTERTAINING. HISTORIC. TENSE. FUNNY. Even TEARY in places . Highly recommended!

Best book so far

Best in the series yet. Cliff Hanger ending that built on the previous book's ending. I'm really looking forward to the next one.

Don’t trust either the Irish or Norsemen

I would have thought that Thorgrim would have learned that he can’t trust the Irish, but he joins a raid led by an Irish minor king. They are unexpectedly joined by an unstable Norse Yarl also recruited by the Irishman. An able Frenchman leads the town’s defense. This mix of forces does not bode well for Thorgrim. Can he trust any but his own men?

Great

I started this series while driving across the northeast part of America. It is engaging and emotional all the way through.
