Publisher's summary

The first standalone novel in The Pucked Series

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn't interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet's misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match. Suffering from a complete lapse in judgment, Violet discovers just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants.

Violet believes her night of orgasmic magic with Alex is just that: one night. But Alex starts to call. And text. And email and send extravagant - and quirky - gifts. Suddenly he's too difficult to ignore and nearly impossible not to like. The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn't want to be part of the game.

Holy accent, Batman!

What was with the male narrator? He was supposed to be performing a Canadian accent, but sounded more like Scottish-British-Jersey boy. He made Alex seem creepy sometimes. Muffy should have narrated the whole book. Don’t let this turn you off from listening, because the story is beyond hilarious! Luckily, the male narrator doesn’t perform much at all.

I'm sure Nathan Everett is a good man ...

... but voice ruins this book. It's only because of the female narrator (Muffy) that the performance isn't a complete failure.

Ignore all chapters labeled "Alex" and it's 5-stars.

Perfect Balance Of Sweet and Sexy!

After reading all of the reviews about the horrible male narrator I was hesitant to try this one. So glad I took the chance. Although the male narrator is bad he doesn't ruin the entire story. His voice was tolerable, however he tried to do a Canadian accent that got butchered and ended up sounding more Scottish than Canadian at times.

Overall this story was the perfect mix of sexy and sweet with an amazing story line, which is what I look for in a romance novel. This one was definitely worth the credit.

Awesome

This was an awesome introduction to Helena Hunting’s writing style. I’ve been collecting her books for a while but this was the first I’ve had a chance to “read”. I loved it. Equal parts funny, sexy, sweet, and entertaining. Can’t wait to read others in this series. I will also admit I never realized how enjoyable I could find a Canadian accent but the male narrator was getting my lady bits a little more excited than I was prepared for. EVERYTIME he ended a sentence with the colloquial “Eh?” ...sploosh, no joke!

Narrator's don't sync

Muffy Newtown's male narration is always so seductive and sexy you immediately forget that it's not the male character speaking. Unfortunately the male lead in this book can't compete. When his part begins it sort of snaps you out of the storyline for a bit. I'm sure that's not your plan for us as readers. I do really like Nathan Everett's voice, Canadian accent and narration, just not with Muffy Newtown. It's not a match.

Not a fan of Nathan

Nathan's voice ruined the book, Alex is Canadian and Nathan sounded Australian. Muffy did a better male voice than he did. plus he sounded gay.

laugh out loud funny moments

this was a cute story with some serious lol moments... her reference to “snuffleupagus” “jilling off” “sudden wind storm” are a few... enjoyable story... not too deep... typical “boy meets girl” the funny parts make the story however... narration was ok

Creepy male narrator ruins it

Any additional comments?

Female narrator does a great job with both roles, there was no need to have a male narrator at all, specially when he read with confusing accents and smarmy voice! Would have been a 5 star read otherwise.

I liked it in that sugar sweet type way

This book was cute, not too raunchy but had some heat too. I liked that there was a dumb jock but the main character had some brains up there. There was a bit too much contrived drama for me to give it 5 stars, but overall I liked it. I might get the next one in the series when I want to laugh out loud...that is if there are no molly harper books available, she is the queen after all.

Horrible male narrator

The female narrator was great but the male narrator was awful. Half the time he sounded like he had an Irish or Scottish accent. The only was I got through the book was by speeding him up. He definitely did not sound like a hot Canadian hockey player.
