About this listen

For Beluviel, consort to the Elven High Lord, and Graydon, gryphon and First Sentinel of the Wyr, even the slightest desire for each other is forbidden. But 200 years ago, after a desperate play to save Beluviel's stepson left them indebted to the cruel Djinn Malphas, they found their fates inexorably linked together - and the hunger between them growing too strong to ignore....

Two centuries later, with their debt to Malphas coming due, Beluviel and Graydon realize that if they are to stand any chance of saving their souls, they must once again work together - this time more closely than ever before. But every moment they spend with each other brings them nearer to losing something even more vital - their hearts.

I have read or listened to many series and hundreds of books. I have favorites but it is difficult to believe there can be a better series of stories, or better character development ir world building than the Elder Books. In Shadows End the reader is again taken to a world of tenderness, violence, love, learning, and change in a roller coaster of emotion that can hurt your insides by the continuous interchange of laughter and crying. I don’t see how you can listen to more than two chapters of this book, and not embark on a goal to listen to any of the tens of other books from this world. Each book is Stand-Alone but each book has some returning characters that you learn about and unexpectedly adopt as your family.

More emotional than the previous stories, but Excellent

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Of course I would. It helps complete the series. It's still good, just not as good.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

This makes me think of beings refinding love in their 60s or 70s where things were always more complicated by personal difficulties

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I liked the fact that two 'oldsters' could still find the spark.

Do you think Shadow's End needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

If they do, they should throttle both the djin and the son. Maybe then they could find more spark.

Not as good

I really like Graydon. I've looked him since the very first book with Pia. He's strong, kind, caring, and make a great sentinel. Most importantly, he would make a great mate. I wasn't too sure on Beluviel until this book. Now I understand and like her better. Her son on the other hand leaves a bit to be desired. Especially since he cost Gray and Bel their love for 200 years. The fact that Gray never gives up and continues to search for a way to have his mate all those years.... I admire him and his persistence. Very passionate and very loving. I can't wait to see how their child is once born.. and I look forward to Liam's continued growth.

Passionate!

I've enjoyed every book in this series, the narrator has developed and her range is wonderful for portraying the characters.

A story that is imbued with all that and more. Sacrifice. Selflessness. Joy. Passion. And heartache.

Love. Honor. Determination and Perseverance.
