Publisher's summary

Jill Gardner - owner of Coffee, Books, and More - has somehow been talked into sponsoring a 5k race along the beautiful California coast. The race is a fundraiser for the local preservation society - but not everyone is feeling so charitable.

The day of the race, everyone hits the ground running...until a local business owner stumbles over a very stationary body. The deceased is the vicious wife of the husband-and-wife team hired to promote the event - and the husband turns to Jill for help in clearing his name. But did he do it?

Killer Run

I've read my last (for awhile) book in this series. The main character is so, going into the dark musty basement alone, too often to suit me. I pretty much like many of the other characters. But the main character, Jill, is so stupid. Yes, in order for the plot to move on, she has to be stupid, I guess? But as much as I like many of the characters and the location, I can't hold on any longer. I must look for a different author.

Boring

I have read the previous books in this series and have enjoyed them. However, I found this one boring. The mystery plot was weak at best. The book itself was filled with complaints by Jill and her aunt. There was also a lot of information about everything Jill ate. Susan Boyce didn't help. I haven't been a big fan of her narration, however, in this book it really grates on my nerves.

Not my favorite, but a good story

I have to say, I'm getting irritated with Jill never telling Greg what she's doing. At first, I kind of felt like it was a Nancy Drew vibe, but the more she goes on and lies to him, the more that bothers me - Nancy always dragged Ned into her shenanigans. And her aunt was very crotchety in this one. I've already bought the rest of the series, so I'll probably go ahead and listen to them, but I hope I see some growth in her character.

A Run For the Wall

Jill Gardener is excited that she and Greg are ready to go on an Alaskan cruise. First she has to host a run for the Historical Commission. On race day Josh finds a dead body and it’s now a hunt for a killer. Fun series and there’s a dog.

Worth the listen

Any additional comments?

I enjoy all the books in this series. This one started out a little slower but it was still worth listening to it.

Love this series!

Not the best of the bunch, but still an enjoyable read. Wow... for such a small town, South Cove sure has a lot of murders. Wink.

Great read

Loving this whodunnit book and the author. The narrator is awesome as well. Lynn Cahoon is definitely on a roll and I look forward to the next one in the series.

Killer Sleep Aid

Greg cancels his and Jill's cruise vacation losing thousands of dollars because there is a murder in their tiny coastal town and Greg is the only law enforcement detective in the entire state of California. LOL So, Jill decides to use her week off to renovate & decorate a spare bedroom while also investigating the murder behind Greg's back. In prior books, Jill's 70-year-old aunt was described as a smart, active and feisty senior citizen but in this story, Jackie was suddenly a grumpy, crippled old lady. The story seemed to go on for years and made me really sleepy; in fact, I think I slept through entire chapters.

Good

A killer run. The disagreeable wife of a PR team is murdered during a race and derails Jill and Greg’s vacation plan.
